Sounds Like
The beat of my inner poet, with a slice of the guitar.
Having an unconventional production process usually results in an extraordinary product. Case and point, singer/songwriter, Andrew Jamieson. His creative process consists of various steps, including improvising several sets of lyrics over a generic melody, then developing that into a perfect balance between lyrics and melody. The material usually ensues in a “generally groovy feel,” in the acoustic/folk/experimental genres. Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, and Kaki King heavily influence Jamieson on the musical side, with influence from Karl Jaspers, Allen Ginsberg, and JK Rowling on the lyrical plane.
Jamieson has been playing the guitar since he was 13 years old and has learned a variety of styles. He first learned acoustic, then moved on to classical and flamenco, which is when he was significantly inspired to write by some folk music. Another source of inspiration is Jamieson’s home that sits on a lake in Harwinton, Connecticut. The beautiful scenery serves as a muse for ideas and images to incorporate into his writing. Recently, he has been writing and studying beat poetry in order for Jamieson to “capture the beat of our generation.” His material usually reflects certain points in his life, good and bad.
Andrew Jamieson’s first album was an experiment in 2004. This is when Jamieson really started defining what he wanted to express and produce in his work. His second album, entitled Acoustics in the Bedroom, was composed of a lot of built-up, raw emotion, and was finished in only two months. The album is a compilation of his musical ideas and expressions over the past five years songwriting. He is currently working on his third album that was started about six months ago. In this album, Jamieson tries to “represent life as we live it in our modern day.”
