What happens when a classical percussionist gets behind a drumset and a computer? Here's where you'll find out (and I'll find out right along with you!). I was that guy in school who sat in the back of the class and never really said anything, but you could tell there was some wild stuff going on in his head. Now, I'm pretty much the same, except I have all the music equipment and web access needed to unleash it all on the world! Hopefully, the world won't mind too much! So join me as I explore the worlds of symphonic, West African, jazz, rock, and whatever other music works its way into my head and my heart.
One of my greatest musical loves is collaboration, and due to the advent of high-speed internet, that takes on global possibilities. If you have any tracks you'd like me to add some percussion to, or if you'd like to add something to one of my tracks, please send me a message and we'll see what we can come up with!
In addition to composition and performance, I have been teaching drum and percussion lessons (and now piano, as well) professionally since 1998. As a teacher, my goal is to help students develop their own personal musical voice, and learn how to set goals, develop a practice routine, and accomplish those goals. For more info about drum lessons in Raleigh, check out my website and my teaching studio site. For those outside the Raleigh, NC area, I offer internet (webcam) drum lessons, and I have several online percussion tutorials dealing with general percussion, symphonic percussion, hand drums, and drumset. I've also prepared some video lessons, which I'll add here...
