Nathan McBride
When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. But Nathan McBride believed he had done just that. The former Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him, until now.

When a deep-cover FBI agent disappears, along with an enormous cache of powerful Semtex explosive, the government envisions a disaster of international proportions and has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement. But almost as soon as Nathan accepts the assignment, he finds himself caught between a ruthless adversary with a blood-chilling plan and federal officials who will stop at nothing to see their own brand of justice done.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Andrew Peterson attended La Jolla High School before enrolling at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture.

At the age of six, Andrew won his first shooting competition at summer camp. His early fascination with rifles became a life-long devotion to excellence in marksmanship. He has won numerous competitions throughout the Southwestern United States, including a Gold Medal at the 1995 Excellence in Competition match at the Nevada State Championship, and a First Place victory at the 1994 Arizona State Championship, 1,000 Yard Service Rifle Match. Currently, Andrew enjoys the classification of Master in the NRA’s High Power Rifle ranking system.

Andrew began to write fiction in 1990. He sold a short story, “Mr. Haggarty’s Stop,” to San Diego Writers Monthly in October, 1992. He continued to write, exploring both the novel form and screenplays. It wasn’t until he attended his first writer’s conference in 2005, that he became serious about writing the Nathan McBride stories. He is currently working on the next novel in a planned series, featuring the “brutally effective” former Marine Corps sniper and ex-CIA operative, Nathan McBride.

FIRST TO KILL is Andrew Peterson’s debut novel, and it will be published in September, 2008, by Leisure Books, an imprint of Dorchester Publishing. Andrew and his wife, Carla, live somewhat off the grid near the central coast of California.

I'd like to invite you and all your friends to check out (and hopefully subscribe to) my blog concerning the launch of my new novel, Child Finder. My book has already received some great reviews before its official release on June 9th. It is a mystery/suspense thriller -- and is only the first in a trilogy I am contracted to write.

Click here to access my blog where I will post information about the book's availability as well as signing events.  Also, be sure to check out my novel's website (www.childfinder.us) for more detailed information about the story, my background, and publication schedules.

Ciao! Mike

There are 18,274 federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and whose names are engraved on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Deputy Sheriff Isaac Smith of the New York City Sheriffs Office was killed on May 17, 1792, and is the first known officer killed in the line of duty in our nation’s history.

Anna Hart, a prison matron with the Hamilton County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office was killed on July 24, 1916, and is the first known female officer to die in the line of duty.

223 female officers names are engraved on the Memorial.

September 11, 2001, was the deadliest day in law enforcement history; 72 officers were killed that day. Their names appear on panels 9W through 22W on line 23.

At the current rate of additions, the Memorial has space to add more names until the year 2050.

Greetings from Sussex, and I thank you for adding my name to your list of "friends." Perhaps you will be interested to hear that my literary agent, Ms King, has cajoled me into participating in a program she is calling "Fifteen Weeks of Bees," which will tie together the fifteenth anniversary of our first collaboration, The Beekeeper's Apprentice, and the publication of our newest venture in May, The Language of Bees. Appropriately, "Fifteen Weeks" will join my efforts on MySpace with hers on her web site and blog. Please join us starting on February 1.
