Influences
It would be a flat out lie to say that no one influences my music, social awareness, and overall artistic being. There are only so many notes and so many words, that can be aligned in so many ways. For me, I believe that all I ingest is at some point regurgitated in one way, shape, or form, whether it be consciously or sub-consciously.
To say that Andrew Rosborough is just another musician would be an inaccurate statement. This Pop-Rock artist is also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, music educator, published author, and award-winning songwriter.
Having been brought up in the retail music industry, Andrew was exposed to a variety of different musical genres from an early age, and took advantage of the numerous ‘tool of the trade’ that were readily available. However, guitar became his first love, and others such as trumpet, piano, and bass, followed suit shortly there after.
Andrew’s musical pursuit took him on what he calls his collegiate ‘Tour of Duty”, with his first stop being the renowned Jazz School, The University of North Texas. Next, he made his way to Indiana University, where graduated with a B.A. in English Literature. During his time at I.U., Andrew interned with the Nashville, TN, Country Label ‘Broken Bow Records’, where he worked side by side with Producer/Engineer Dan Frissell. The final stop for Andrew was Musicians Institute, located in Hollywood, CA. There he studied with Justin Derrico, guitarist for PINK, The Calling, and other notables, while also gaining invaluable knowledge that no other institution could have ever offered.
During his ‘Tour of Duty’, Andrew crafted his first release, “The Perpetual Sounds of Motion”. This 5 song EP explored the varying tastes of Andrew’s musical palette, while upholding the strong hook-based songs that he is known for today.
Andrew’s sophomore release, “Andrew Rosborough & The Umbrella Parade” (July 2009), was penned with his writing/business partner Matt Burmeister, who is also the co-author of their guitar teaching method entitled, “Solid Foundations for Playing Guitar”. These two, along with producer/engineer Mark Ruebel (Allison Krause, HUM, Adrian Belew, Wilco), have combined forces to create a solid full-length album that has already received acclaim based upon the two singles “Hole in Your Soul” & “Christmas in July”.
You can catch Andrew & The Umbrella Parade through 2009 and 2010 touring the U.S., as well as, you can follow them on Myspace, Facebook, and at andrewrosborough.com.

About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D
