Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Sublime, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Queens Of The Stone Age, Electric Six, The Mars Volta, Motown, and any other artist that has captured our heart and soul through our ears...
The annals of history are reserved for the stories of only a few major characters in this epic story called the universe; Jesus Christ in The Bible, Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar, Leonardo DaVinci in The DaVinci Code. And joining these icons today, with the documentation that follows, chronicling the beginnings of what is destined to be one of the most prolific musical acts of all time, And The Greatest Of These Things in The Story of And The Greatest Of These Things.
It is said that many moons ago, in the dead of winter, came a shattering cry from Shiva, at the center of the earth, pleading for new, inventive, mind-blowing, and above all, soulful rock music to save the world from its current plague of power-punk-pop bullshit. Three men heard that cry. Each of the three from different points across the globe, they answered the call wholeheartedly, fostering a love for music that would last their whole life. When the year of our Lord, two thousand and five arrived, each of the three picked up a guitar and set off to college, all completely unaware of the fact that they would meet their future bandmates there, at Baylor University.
Enter Jeffrey Palen. Average man-about town and esteemed filmmaker, but when his power is multiplied by the outrageous power of the bass guitar, he is a god among men. He would earn the name KURLY.
Matthew Johnson. A reserved young man, and one destined for philosophys history books, when combined with a guitar, becomes an energized force capable of silencing even the loudest banshee. His name would be THE EXPONENT.
Jeffrey Mills. A gentle soul, and filled with the aspirations of education. When introduced to the drum kit, however, he becomes a spirit being flying between and through the skins releasing a sound like no other. He would be named BONGO.
When these three men bring their sound, talents, wills, and most importantly spirits together, they produce a sound unlike any other that has graced anyones ears before. With powerfully driving and delightfully funky bass coming from Kurly, amazingly psychedelic yet beautifully melodic guitar coming from The Exponent, and boomingly loud, yet perfectly timed drumming coming from Bongo, And The Greatest Of These Things is poised to take the world by storm; first Baylor University, soon Waco itself, and not long after that, who knows? Perhaps the world?
