The polka is a lively Central European dance and also a genre of dance music familiar throughout Europe and the Americas. It originated in the middle of the 19th century in the Czech lands and is still a common genre in Lithuanian, Czech, Slovenian, Polish, German, Hungarian, Austrian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Russian, and Slovakian folk music. Versions are also found in the Nordic countries, Ireland and Latin America.

Name:Andy Bakke Hometown: St Augustine Florida DOB: 1956-02-25 Instrument: Accordion Been squeezing a box since 1961. First Electronic Accordion in 1970. Started playing out at 9 years old playing German and Scandinavian music for the local clubs in Fort Lauderdale Florida. At age 11 I was actively gigging for hire which branched out to the Polish and Italian American Clubs. Played the Tamarac Clubhouse circuit as well as several of the Condominium Associations. Joined the Coast Guard and got to travel around a bit. Played in New Orleans sitting in with a few bands. Got some first hand experience at Country music in Texas along with playing in Mexico. Played several of the Officers and Chiefs clubs of both Navy and Coast Guard bases at several of my duty stations. After the service I settled down in St. Augustine Florida where I am an Air Conditioning Contractor. Got a steady gig playing a local German Restaurant for 12 years and started my web pages with primarily Polka, German, Italian and Scandinavian tunes. Jumped feet first into Cajun and since then I have been branching out into all Genre's. With the present MIDI Accordion any type music is possible.
