Andy Cummings is one of the hardest working musicians in the Central Massachusetts area. Performing professionally for nearly 15 years all over the New England area, and keeping up a regular schedule of appearances specializing in an American tradition - the Popular Song. His extensive repertoire belies the power of his guitar playing and the surprising range of his voice. Andy has been called a 'human jukebox' not just because of the impressive size of his song catalog but also his uncanny ability to shift popular genres with such convincing ease. Usually onstage with just a microphone and an acoustic guitar, he can sometimes be found fronting a small combo of musician friends playing anything from swing to rockabilly.
Early in 2009, Andy produced a 'limited run' self titled CD. Recorded over a four year period and playing all the instruments himself, Cummings original music echoes and blends the 'sunshine pop/British Invasion' sounds of the 1960s with he calls a "generation x, east coast sensibility". Two tracks from the CD, "Worth The Time" and "Your Only One" have received extensive local radio airplay. Nestled among the 16 tracks are covers of songs by artists such as the Beach Boys and The Who, in a deliberate move to put Andy's own songs in their proper context.
Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, Andy has worked with artists as diverse as Ritchie Havens, Peter Tork, The Dropkick Murphys and Sally Struthers. Teaching private guitar students in his spare time, he is also the author of the underground bestseller, How To Get Back From Boston. Andy Cummings currently resides in Leominster, Massachusetts.
