About Andy Davies Quartet

Try the BEST MySpace Editor at MySpace Toolbox!The Andy Davies Quartet was formed in January 2004 with an inaugural tour of South Wales, playing at Swansea Jazzland, the Cardiff Jazz Cafe, Jazz at The Riverbank and Jazz in The Round. In August 2004 they performed in Italy at the Bocabarranca Jazz club, Nord Est Cafe, Varese Open Jazz Fest and The Drome, also releasing a promotional DVD. In October of the same year the band visited Japan where they performed at the Tokyo Opera House, the British Council and held workshops at the prestigious Kunitachi Music Academy of Tokyo. The quartet released their debut CD in March 2005, which was promoted during a tour of Italy (sponsored by Trinity College of Music and endorsed by MARK BASS ITALIA) with performances at the Chet Baker Jazz Club, Caruso Jazz Cafe, Biella Jazz Club, Uefillo Jazz Club, Ivrea Jazz Club, Borgo jazz Club and the Osteria del Jazz. The quartet received impressive reviews which can be viewed at www.jazzitalia.net and www.jazzconvention.net . In November 2005 the quartet will tour Britain, having been awarded an Arts Council of England Jazz Services Touring Grant playing in Wigan Jazz Club, Mat and Phreds- Manchester, The Blue Lamp - Aberdeen, The Wardrobe- Leeds, The Spice Of Life - London, Jazz In The Round - London, The Speakeasy Club - Torquay, The Bebop Club - Bristol, Jazz and Pool - London, Cafe Jazz - Cardiff. The quartet was featured in The November issue of British jazz magazine JAZZWISE in the news column with information about the Jazz Services Tour. On 18 November the band will be interviewed and perform live on BBC Radio Bristol. In December 2005 the quartet performed in Spain in various clubs, including the prestigious Jamboree (Barcelona), Jazz Terrassa (Terrassa) and Sunset Jazz Club (Girona). The MMUSICIANS BENEVOLENT FUND also awarded the project for recording their new album in MARCH 2006 with a special award due to their "exceptionally high standard". Scheduled performances include Brighton Jazz Club and a tour in Italy in 2006.
