"From a broadcaster's perspective, authenticity and integrity are the core qualities that make for an all round satisfying programme - Andy Hickie certainly fullfilled these needs. An enlightened performer." - Stan Ambrose, BBC Radio Merseyside Folkscene since 1962.
'The Other Man' Video
Andy Hickie is a roaming singer songwriter from the mountains of North Wales.
Over the last two years Andy has toured the UK and Ireland living out on the road in his trusty camper van 'Dean' and played a string of festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Wickerman Festival and Eden Festival. He has followed the trail blazed by troubadours like Martin Carthy and Bert Jansch, travelling around the major cities and towns of Ireland, England and Wales, gigging, busking, collecting stories and sharing his songs and music the old fashioned way.
His desire to reach more people with his music led Andy to Wrexham, North Wales, to record his debut e.p “The Other Man”. Also to the conception of
“The Merry Maidens”, representatives from many fine bands on the Wrexham and North Wales scene. Liverpool is Andy's favorite city and he has become a familiar face on the fast growing folk scene.
This winter Andy will be recording his debut album which will feature a collective of musicians and friends, ready for the Spring of 2010.

THE ROAD TO HAPPINESS LEADS NOWHERE,
HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD. X
What's the title of the song you sang in Vilafranca with the guys and without speakers? Isn't "The Foggy Dew" is it? Because I just found this one ("The Foggy Dew" I mean), but the lyrics are not the same...
Well dude, I wish everything it's going well there and you manage well to get the photo from vilafranca bigger on your new photos...
How are things? Cheers for mentioning me to the Raven Inn. Just to let you know I've just uploaded a couple of my new tracks to myspace if you get a chance to listen. Some lovely cornet in there too (not the ice cream but the trumpet)! Had a few BBC radio plays too which is very exciting.
Hope all things are going well - looking at your gigs you look extremely busy!
ANDY!!! A few days ago I was going through a box of miscllaneous papers and letters and came across the postcard you sent me. It had a picture of Welsh women in traditional clothing. It made me smile. Hope all is well with you.

Just a quick question too, what is the myspace name of the Irish guy who played at the start. Cheers, and hope to see you soon matey!
