Book Description: He rocketed to the top of the rock scene with his song, 'Avenging Annie', enjoyed stardom for the next four years, and ended it with an outdoor concert. Music icon-rock star of the 1970s, musician-author Andy Pratt bares his heart and soul with candor and honesty in this autobiography, Shiver in the Night. Accompany him in this nostalgic journey, as he reminisces the fame, celebrities, music, family, romance, cruelty, betrayal, and Jesus. He takes readers to memory lane --- during his formative years, youthful folly, music career, and pursuit to get back on track. Truly a primer in mental-physical-emotional survival, this book is can be purchased through the Xlibris website www.xlibris.com. Among the famous names appearing in this book are: Andy Warhol, John Belushi, Miles Davis, Tony Levin, Steve Gadd, the Band, Foreigner, David Gates, Bela Bartok, and Bono."
Right now I'm working on a NEW CD called "The Snake Charmer" with Miaimi Producer Fernando Perdomo. You can check out some rough mixes here: http://www.myspace.com/andyprattagain
You can check out the trailer for the film Dammit Dixie Dan, now (and forever?) in production and featuring Andy Pratt, me, as narrator. That's me pointing my finger at you in the last scene. Chris Finch, who wrote and directed DDD, is writing, filming, and networking as always. The movie trailer is at: http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=679140
I recently played Doc the Grave Robber in the Acting Out Theatre Company of Lawrence (Mass)'s production of The Adventures of Mark Twain. It was fun.
I was a Judge at "New Hampshire Idol 2007" WLNH 98.3 FM Radio put it on. There were lots of attractive women present and some good singers. A very good singer from Concord, NH, named Brian Waldron, won.
Long-beloved Boston rock writer Bret Milano recently released a book entitled "The Sound of Our Town - a history of Boston Rock." It has the one and only Willie "Loco" Alexander on the cover, and is a good read for people interested in Boston Rock, which also includes several international artists - me, the Cars, Boston, J. Geils, etc. Brett only gave me three sentences in the book and in them gets the facts wrong. In fact I was originally signed to Columia by Clive Davis with the help of John Nagy and Nat Weiss. It's nice to be mentioned. Thanks Brett!
By the way Stephen Holden is doing quite well these days as a movie critic for the New York Times. We did a book release party for Brett's book at the Middle East in Cambridge Mass, organized by Asa Brebner, and a lot of old Boston Rock royalty showed up, including David Minnehan (of The Neighborhoods), Robin Lane and the Chartbusters, Mickey Clean, Willie, Lizzie Borden, and many others I neglect to mention here forgive me. It was a special night for us. Thanks to Billy Loosigian and friends for making me sound good.
I as usual am waiting for other people. I would love to play gigs, mine or as a sideman, produce, play, and sing in the studio for anyone who is interested. I've still got the "sound" and I've worked with some of the best. Price is negotiable for such things... contact me to make arrangements.
In addition to my "I'm All Right" album, my 1980's compilation, "Age of Goodbye", done with Stephen Hague and Leroy Radcliffe and an all-star cast of musicians is also available at http://www.itsaboutmusic.com/andypratt.html, along with 2 live cds, one from the 1970's and one recorded at NYC's Villlage Underground in 2003 featuring Tommy Hambridge, Sal Baglio, Mark Doyle, and Gary Link.
It was my pleasure to play "It’s Not The End Of The World" on my bi-weekly, 30-minute podcast featuring mainstream, independent music. The direct link to the show is: http://indiemusicsampler. com/2008/07/11/ims-103/
Wow Hello Andy. I've never been to MA so it must have been another Richard Snow. I love your falsetto on Avenging Annie. It's in outta space! all the best Richard ;-)
The pleasure is all mine, Andy! Oh, that contemporary christion station is now called The Current, and the call letters are WJLZ. Also look into the Suffolk Center For The Performing Arts, and Tidewater Friends of Folk Music, both in Virginia. TFFM does concerts with alot of "unplugged" genres. Best of luck, and please let me know what happens, because I would love to come hear you! God Bless, Sharon
DO I KNOW WHO YOU ARE?!!! You are kidding, correct Andy? "Avenging Annie", "Resolution"... Your music is a part of my personal soundtrack, Mr. Pratt. Of course I know who you are, and so do thousands of others! Don't ever think other wise. Gigs in VA: Have your reps find out who books for the NorVa in Norfolk; The Jewish Mother or Abbey Road in Virginia Beach; or see what kind of venues there are in the Charlottesville(University of VA) or Metro DC. Get in touch with Paul Shagrue (sp?) at WHRV-FM, one of our two local NPR stations. He has a fantastic program of independandt music called "Out Of The Box", which is an excellent showcase; also there is a listener supported contemporary christian station here called "the Lighthouse" that wold surely welcome contact with you! Hope any of that helps!
Knowing who you are, but wouldn't random acts of friendliness be nice if they happened more often?; Sharon
Wow, this can't have been just an extreme chance event - a friend request from someone of whom I am already a major fan? This kind of thing doesn't usually happen.
"Who am I talkin' to?" I know that I DO know! :)
"Low Tide Island" slays me every time I put it on. You've had several home-runs, but you knocked that one outta the park. Thanks for the great, great music.
Thank God you're still singing and playing.Such a singular and honest talent is rare. (And I usuallly don't like "singer/piano players",except for you and Sarah McLachlan! :)
Oh, no wonder you have several different A. Pratt pages, you know I love your music. That was fun having coffee with you and Markus @ 1369 a few weeks ago. -peace, Scott.
Hey Andy! I just got the CD you sent me yesterday! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! It's WONDERFUL! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for thinking of me. I will be rocking out to you all day! Hope to see you soon! Mindy
Hi Andy, I wish you could have been in town for the Todd Rundgren show. It was EPIC! Hilary McRae & Fernando opened up. When are you coming back down again? ROCK! Mindy
