Andy Russ, native of the Dayton, Ohio area began playing drums at the age of 7. Like any other musician, Andy Russ sees music as his passion. However, twenty-seven-year-old Russ stands out with his high-energy playing skills that are instantly noticed once you see him perform. At age 16 he did his first studio session for a CD release with his church orchestra. Throughout high school he participated in marching band, jazz band, and did 2 years of indoor drumline. He received numerous accolades including the Louis Armstrong award for Jazz band. Russ credits renowned drummers such as Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, and Carter Beauford as influencing his drumming style. While still in high school he joined his first band that he played with for 3 years. By 2003 he got into a very successful local original band in Cleveland opening for such acts as Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson, Joe Nichols and many more. He stayed with them until 2005 when he relocated to the Nashville area to further pursue his music career. Once in Nashville he began filling in with bands on downtown Broadway, which led to an offer to tour with the country/bluegrass duo, The Larkins. Now out on the road as a touring drummer, Russ was playing casinos and fairs from Arizona to the East coast, while also having the opportunity to open for Billy Dean and Exile in 2006. Russ is currently playing with rising country star, Daniel Smith. Andy Russ has a talent that can’t be overlooked and his dedication will continue to bring him success in the music industry.
