Known as a songwriter, instrumentalist, interpreter and improviser, Villas-Bôas uses his passionate yet smooth voice as the primary vehicle of expressing the hidden dimensions within him to listeners. Taking up the guitar at age thirteen, he began to experience music as a means of access to the river of unconscious-supernatural potential present in all phenomenon. The only son of a classical pianist father and Brazilian mother, from birth Andy Villas-Bôas was surrounded with wonderfully diverse music from opera to ragas to samba. Welcome to this unique musical universe!
Come join the celebration over the release of our new CD – Boteco!!
‘Boteco’ is an artful mixture of neo-futuristic traditional Brazilian rhythms with the right quantity of the best North American spices. It is funk and rock boiling and baking with samba, maracatu, frevo and baiao.
Put Pele and Mohammed Ali in a fictional mix machine. Now add Frank Zappa, Sergio Mendes, Tom Jobim and Roger Waters and fused in to one. What a mix eh? Bat Makumba is this fusion, multiplied by 2.
