We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies. ~Pablo Picasso
**Email me for my resume!**
I have been acting for over 20 years, and hope to continue to grow in my art. I have recently done my first directing gig, directing a very talented cast in Arthur Miller's "The Crucible". I recently had way more fun thatn should be allowed appearing as Lowbutt, the "Very Domesticated Hen" in the musical "Honk!" with the Dexter Community Players. Right now I'm beginning rehearsals for a role as a cross-dressing Victorian thug(ette) in Sherlock Holmes: the Final Adventure -- apparently my Cockney accent was so good that they had to cast me as Sid Prince, Moriarty's "right hand man". I've also been doing some work as an extra in films, and hope to expand my experiences in the future to featured and leading roles. I am ready for the challenge; I hope the world is getting ready for me. ;) Oh, and I'm teaching myself to belly dance, and am especially interested in Americal Tribal Style.
I enjoy serious roles as well as lighter ones, and have been told I have an excellent sense of comic timing. I am also a proficient improvisationist, and love a challenge. I enjoy projects of all varieties -- from the most staid and respected of classics to the edgiest new trend.
I have a secret weakness for grade-B horror, and for costume/period drama, and would love to explore both of these genres. I'm very experienced in wearing (and making) various period garb/costumes, and I look good and move naturally in them. I also have experience in medieval/renaissance dance.
My motto as an artist is to always 'live in the moment', whether that moment be cradling a dying child, dancing a pavanne before a king and his court, or being gruesomely murdered in a spectacularly gaudy fashion.
I pride myself on being able to find the truth in my roles, be they leads or walk-ons. Whether dramatic, seriocomic, tragic or farcical, an actor has to live the part. As Meisner said, "Don't act. Be." I take direction well, and give my all to make any production of which I am part the best it can be.
I'm planning to have some nice photos taken in the near future. If anyone knows a good headshot/publicity photograher who doesn't charge an arm and a leg, I'm all ears.
Ciao!
