The mandate of Reef to Outback, Youth With A Mission is: Helping Young People!
Being involved in Reef to Outback since 1999, my husband and I have been involved in many different areas of ministry. For a time we were involved in leading Discipleship Training Schools (DTS), assisted the Director, and lead the Communications Area.
In January 2006, my husband Luke had done a School of Music in Missions (SOMM) to help us pin-point exactly how his/our love for music and our call to "Missions" fit together. Needless to say, lots of vision sprouted and in October 2006 we pioneered a Music Ministry here at Reef to Outback. This has been a huge turning point for us as we have done nothing but THRIVE in this area. This has been Luke’s passion for years and he is LOVING IT!
The Music Ministry has grown tremendously since its birth and now God is challenging us to spread our wings from Townsville, Australia and take on the world!!!
As part of the Music Ministry, we started a band called ‘Five Star Streets’. The band’s goal is to use their concerts as a tool to promote the needs of missions. Meaning... promoting the opportunities in joining missions and also bringing awareness of injustice issues from around the world and opportunities of how people can get involved.
Recently, the band has just put on a benefit concert called ‘A Voice in the Dark’ raising money for a ministry that helps women get out of prostitution in Thailand. This is the beginning of a series of concerts to bring attention to injustice issues that people tend to turn a blind eye to.
For the next few years, we will be taking a few months of the year and will be touring... putting on concerts of a night full of music, worship and plenty of stories from the mission field. We will be presenting Missions opportunities and challenging people to get involved. We hope to inspire people to make a difference in the world around them by stepping out of the norm and taking a stand for people who need help!
Did you have a good time back here in Cali? How does the weather compare? I would love Australia for its beauty and the green culture, but it's way too far from my family's hemisphere. I don't know how you do it!
Lol, he sooo wishes he was gangsta. He tries... it's cute really :)
How are you and the fam?! Jojo showed me some pretty cute videos of the kids. I'm so excited to meet you all! He also drew pictures of everyone while trying to explain the Gallegos family to my mom. We really should have kept them, he has some pretty funny ideas about your children...
