Luis is "German soul". And Jazz and Latin. Angela Luis and Mo soul move easily through the jungle of musical clichés balancing on grooves & styles without really caring if the paths they choose are modern, retro or just being created.
Their album sounds warm & hearty, and Angela sings with a natural elegance showing emotional depth and spreading a sunny mood that's rare to find in German music business. Though you wouldn't expect this sound coming from a German band, and influences from Brazilian Bossa Nova and US Jazz music are obvious, it's exactly the sound you'd like to enjoy sitting in a street café in one of the major cities in Europe.
From the sunny single track "birdfriends" up to the pumping bass line of the albums title "do it", the whole music is beautifully arranged and delicately produced always leaving room for the voice to float the space with intense atmosphere.
It's obvious that Mo Soul, who has already worked with several German musicians like Clueso, Denyo, Curse and Fetsum, really took his time to let his favorite baby grow.
And like tasting the sunny season in a nice bottle of wine it's a pleasure to enjoy the easiness of mature musicians playing from the heart. Singing since childhood days Angela Luis choose English over her mother tongue feeling the need to be understood by as many people as possible. And after graduating music university she traveled with small Jazz and Bossa Nova Bands throughout Germany, Europe & Rio de Janeiro drawing up as much inspiration as possible and bringing home a bunch of songs and shoes from all over the world.
Being part of a grown musicians-network & community she's proud to house musicians from all over the world in her combined shoe & guestroom when they visit her home base Cologne.
Though they never intended to prove anything still this first album of LUIS proves that soulful music can grow everywhere ignoring country borders and spreading slowly but surely throughout the world.

Der Sound ist warm, die Stimmung gut und Angela Luis singt so eindringlich, fein und klar, wie man es in Deutschland so noch nicht gehört hat. Hier und da werden amerikanische Einflüsse sichtbar, eigensinnig umgewandelt in einen Sound, der zwar nicht Deutsch klingt, aber wenn man so will, europäisch.
Egal, ob beim sommerlichen Birdfriends oder beim pumpenden Bass-Beat des Titelsongs Do It, die Tracks sind liebevoll produziert und lassen dabei genug Platz für Stimme und Stimmung.
Das ist vor allem das Werk von Mo Soul, der dem einen oder anderen durch seine Produktionen für u.a. Clueso, Denyo, Curse und Fetsum bekannt sein sollte. Mo ließ sich bei diesem - seinem Hausprojekt – mächtig Zeit. Und das hört man auf allen Songs. In jedem von ihnen stecken so viel Gespür und Feinheiten, dass man die Platte immer wieder hören kann und will.
Angela Luis schreibt Songs und singt seit ihrer Kindheit, studierte Musik in Köln und erweiterte währenddessen ihre Gesangskünste durch zahllose Auftritte mit eigenen Jazz und Bossa Nova Projekten (wie z.B. feliz) in Deutschland, Europa und Rio de Janeiro und das immer in schönen Schuhen.
Zum Wichtigsten, was sie in Rio gelernt hat, gehört die Lektion immer ein Paar Havaianas in der Handtasche zu haben (Das is nix zum Rauchen, sondern FlipFlops!). Ihren Schuhschrank nennt sie liebevoll das Gästezimmer und wer kann schon behaupten, dass Musiker wie Cluseo oder Denyo in Ihrer Schuhsammlung übernachtet haben?!
Zusammen haben die Beiden eine Debut Album hingelegt, das als Beweis dient, wie grandios englischsprachiger Soul aus Deutschland funktionieren und klingen kann.
