always looking for that full time drummer....sigh!
Sounds Like
Angela Sheik had two goals for her 2009 demo EP, Pappachappa: "I wanted it to make me dance. I wanted it to make me cry." Her 8-track demo, full of longing lyrics and backed by breaky, upbeat grooves, does just that. Her warm, atmospheric intros and shy insights reflect the breadth of a beautiful human spirit. The sound is mainly driven by keyboard and female vocals, but with constant electronic twists and turns. Imagine Regina Spektor rocking out to Radiohead. A polished entertainer with a mischievous twinkle in her eye ;)
Don’t be fooled by her background in classical flute; Angela Sheik has long since moved away from the roll of a traditional performer. In fact, her style can barely be described as singer-songwriter. With the innovative use of effects pedals, computers and digital loops recorded live in front of her audience, mixed with the acoustic elements of flute, voice, and keyboard, you could almost say that Angela has slipped into the realm of “acoustic disc jockey”. In her own words, her songs are like“robots singing and dancing around a camp fire.” She comes to the stage with tunes that are interesting and entertaining, while still connecting with the complexities of the human spirit. In the words of one of her fans, Angela Sheik writes songs that “make your soul crack.”
Before her solo career, Angela was a member of the female duo, Ange&Ris (2003-2009). For more info about that, visit www.angeandris.com or www.myspace.com/angeandris.
The duo was well established in the Philadelphia area and toured consistently for over five years. Currently a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, Angela Sheik performs regularly at events and venues in the Philadelphia area and throughout the US.
Ange, anytime you plan on being in my SW neighborhood, let me know. I really dig your sound. Chills... and by that, I mean I got them listening to you.
How did you find me in all this space? Well, I am glad that you did. I very much like your style and your voice is very pure tone and smooth. It is very enjoyable to meet you and thanks for joining forces in friendship!!
Wow! That's cool Angela.... I'm not sure what I'd write about Findlay though. It's pretty boring to me, but then again I live here. lol
I've been working on a murder-mystery novel that takes place in Charlotte, NC. I've been there several times and the city has a certain mystique to it.
Thanks for adding me to your circle of friends, Angela!
