I was born (1983) and raised (1983-2001) in in Salzburg, Austria. I grew up in a very musical surrounding since my parents both are classical musicians.
From early on I got the chance to try out many instruments such as recorder, violin, piano. But singing always has been my passion, my real instrument. From the age of 16 on I took Piano (Markus Urbas) and Jazz-singing (Yella Schwarzer) lessons and so learned a lot of basics.
After graduating at a High School with special emphasis on music I went to Graz, Austria to study music pedagogy. After 2 years I changed the studies to Jazz-vocal with Laurie Antonioli and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in June 2006 with distinction.
Between 1998 and 2005 I attended workshops and Masterclasses with Lauren Newton, Theo Bleckmann, Jay Clayton, Ines Reiger, Fay Classen, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Huw Warren, Luciana Souza, Dick Oatts, Jon Hendricks and Bobby McFerrin.
Twice I received scholarships from the University of Graz for attending Masterclasses and Workshops.
In March 2006 I have been accepted to Manhattan School of Music but because of financial reasons I decided to go to NYC for private studies (composition/arrangement with Alan Ferber (Kenny Wheeler), Ingrid Jensen, Bruth Barth, voice/piano with Theo Bleckman and Peter Eldridge).
I also attended workshops/masterclasses with Dave Liebman, Maria Schneider and Jason Moran.
With my Band MOSAIK I started working on my own material, songs in which the voice partly is used as an instrument but also word-focused pieces.
Our Debut-CD "Dedication to a city" has been released in June 2007 on cracked anegg records and gained some great critics; for more information visit www.angelatroendle.com
Since Fall 2007 I'm also enrolled in a Masters Program for Jazz Composition with Ed Partyka.
2007 I gained the Annual Scholarship for Music of the Government of Salzburg.
