With a sultry, timeless quality, Angela’s voice is unparalleled. She manages to subtly incorporate influences including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Whitney Houston, but emerges with a sound that is distinctly her own. Beautiful and classy, yet funky, Angela is a legend in the making.
Angela wholly credits her parents with sparking her musical interests. Angela’s father was a dancer, actor, singer and exposed Angela to a world of music from Rock to Gospel. Angela’s mother when she was barely old enough to talk was known for winning lipsyncing contests with music from Anita Baker to Diana Ross. It was this early saturation that provoked Angela to investigate her own musical abilities. During childhood in Texas she wrote music, participated in choirs, musical theatre, and talent shows.
By the age of 12, Angela had written her first composition. After this she began directing the youth choir at her church teaching her original music. At age 16 she began to actively pursue her music career competing for All State choir. She became the first student to ever to place in the All state choir, where she was first chair.
While attending Texas Christian University on a music scholarship, Angela continued to pursue her career. She joined Complete in Christ (C-n-C), a music ministry of five singers. The group recorded a Cd entitled “Miracle Worker” for which Angela wrote four songs, including the title track, and cowrote three other songs.
Through this group, Angela branched off for a solo career singing around at local clubs in Dallas Forth and acting at local theater houses. Her performances sparked the attention of a local radio personality who began to push Angela’s music career. During this time, Angela won several awards in the local community for her musical ability and her charity work using her voice including an Artist award from the Federal Aviation Association.
After much success in Dallas/Fort Worth and Angela moved to New York City to further her music career.
Within her first year residing in NY, Angela racked up a notable resume, playing gigs at distinguished venues including the Today’s Show, Disney, Solomon’s Porch, Bruno’s, the legendary Bitter End.
Angela’s music genius has caught the eye of several greats including legendary drummer Victor Jones. Victor has helped to push Angela’s career by making her the lead singer in his band Cultureversy.
One thing is certain, any ear that Angela’s voice graces will never be the same……
