Angelina: I've been reckless, but I'm not a rebel without a cause.



Angelina: I am odd-looking. I sometimes think I look like a funny Muppet.



Angelina: (on becoming a biological parent) I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. Brad told me he hadn't given up that thought. Then after Zahara came home from Ethiopia, I saw Brad with her and Maddox, and I realised how much he loved them - that a biological child would not in any way be a threat.



Angelina: (discussing her trust issues): I don't trust anyone ... I don't think it's a good thing. This is going to make you think that maybe I should get some therapy, but trust is such a bizarre word. I trust Brad will never do anything. I don't know. I don't trust anybody completely.



Angelina: I'd go from film to film and almost detach from one world and jump in another. I was living as these people and not having a self. I didn't know who I was. And things just get really dark.



Angelina Jolie: When I get logical, and I don't trust my instincts - that's when I get in trouble.



Angelina Jolie: Where ever I am I always find myself looking out the window wishing I was somewhere else.

In a press conference Jolie explained her motives for joining the refugee agency (UNHCR): We cannot close ourselves off to information and ignore the fact that millions of people are out there suffering. I honestly want to help. I don't believe I feel differently from other people. I think we all want justice and equality, a chance for a life with meaning. All of us would like to believe that if we were in a bad situation someone would help us.



Jolie has said in interviews that she is bisexual and has long acknowledged that she had a sexual relationship with her Foxfire co-star Jenny Shimizu, "I would probably have married Jenny if I hadn't married my husband. I fell in love with her the first second I saw her." In an interview with Barbara Walters in 2003, asked if she was bisexual, Jolie responded, "Of course. If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it's okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!"



The media speculated that Jolie is a Buddhist, but she said that she teaches Buddhism to her son Maddox because she considers it part of his culture. Jolie has not stated definitively whether or not she believes in God. When asked in an interview with The Onion A.V. Club in 2000 if there was a God, she said, "For the people who believe in it, I hope so. There doesn't need to be a God for me."



Angelina: I dropped my pants in a tattoo parlor in Amsterdam. I woke up in a waterbed with this funky-looking dragon with a blue tongue on my hip. I realized I made a mistake, so a few months later I got a cross to cover it. When my pants hang low, it looks like I'm wearing a dagger!



Angelina Jolie: We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.



Angelina Jolie: I like to hide behind the characters I play. Despite the public perception, I am a very private person who has a hard time with the fame thing.



Angelina Jolie was born on June 4, 1975, in Los Angeles. Estranged from her father, actor Jon Voight, since she was a baby, Angelina was raised by her mother, Marcheline Bertrand and older brother. She began to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City when she was 11. Five years later, Angelina moved out on her own and worked as a professional model. She appeared in music videos for The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz and Meat Loaf.



Angelina: I don't see myself as beautiful, because I can see a lot of flaws. People have really odd opinions. They tell me I'm skinny, as if that's supposed to make me happy.



Angelina: I love to put on lotion. Sometimes I'll watch TV and go into a lotion trance for an hour. I try to find brands that don't taste bad in case anyone wants to taste me.



Angelina: They're right to think that about me, because I'm the person most likely to sleep with my female fans, I genuinely love other women and I think they know that.



Angelina: (on son Maddox) One day I went to an orphanage, and Maddox was the last kid I saw. He opened his eyes and smiled. He seemed to be OK in my arms.



Angelina: I love doing lesbian love scenes. Before I did my lesbian scenes in Gia, I talked to actresses who said love scenes are easier with another woman than a man. Bound's Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly said they'd lie there and discuss the sale at Barney's between takes.



Angelina Jolie: It became clear to me [several years ago] that I was an incredibly well-off star, and that I had to do something against the screaming injustice on this planet. Not just by giving speeches, I had to be actively involved. Since then I’ve travelled half the world. I want to see the people there up close. I don’t shut myself off in some luxurious hotel.



Angelina Jolie: Acting is not pretending or lying. It’s finding a side of yourself that’s the character and ignoring your other sides. And there’s a side of me that wonders what’s wrong with being completely honest.



Angelina Jolie: I don't believe in guilt, I believe in living on impulse as long as you never intentionally hurt another person, and don't judge people in your life. I think you should live completely free.



Angelina's last name, Jolie, literally means "Beautiful" in French.



Angelina: Love one person, take care of them until you die, raise kids, have a good life. Figure out what you want personally and go after it, no matter what it takes.



Angelina: (about having a conference with Maddox's teacher) I suddenly wondered, do I have all my tattoos covered up? Do I have too much black eyeliner on?



Angelina: I don't believe marriage would make us happier. We are a family and that is enough. He [Brad Pitt] is not only a great dad; he is also a great friend.



Matt Damon: (on doing love scenes with Angelina in “The Good Shepherd“) Doing a love scene with the girlfriend of a good friend is weird. We all know each other.



Angelina: (on telling The Good Shepherd director and co-star, Robert De Niro she was pregnant): I fell faint in the middle of singing Christmas carols and then I felt really bad. I thought I was confessing to the Godfather that I've done something terribly wrong and I just said 'Bob, I think I'm pregnant'. (De Niro rushed to get her a banana). He was like a man who has had many, many kids. He was great. He ran and got me some food.



Angelina: I'm very, very, lucky. I love the different elements of my life. I love working abroad, and I love being with my kids and I love being with Brad. I'd like to add many more children and many more obstacles and many more things to my life.



Angelina: (how she and Brad Pitt got together): Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. We just became kind of a pair. I think we were the last two people who were looking for a relationship. I certainly wasn't. It was clear he was with his best friend, someone he loves and respects.
