Have you ever heard of Congenital Heart Defect (CHD)? You should. It affects 1 in every 85 babies!
CHD is an anomaly of the heart that is present at birth. CHD's cause one or more portions of the heart to develop abnormally. At least 35 distinct forms recognized.
CHD is the number 1 birth defect and is the leading cause of birth-defect related deaths. 40,000 infants are born with CHD each year in the U.S. (Still, newborns are not screened for CHD's.)
And although it is the most common birth defect, it is the LEAST publicized.
I mean, have you heard about this? With these numbers being so high, how likely is it that your baby ,a friends baby, or someone's baby living close to you will have a CHD? VERY LIKELY
There is no known cause for CHD, (although genetics is the number one suspect.) CHD strikes children without regard to economic level, ethnic origin, sex, geographic location or religious beliefs. And there is no cure for CHD, only LIFELONG treatment.

I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Now we’re going through an uncertain future with JJ as he remains in ICU at the animal hospital.
