Angels in Tropical Shirts will host our second annual Trop-Rock Festival and Cancer Benefit on November 22nd 2008 in Lake Charles, LA.
Angels in Tropical Shirts (AITS) hosted our first event on December 29th 2007 in Kemah, TX. The day long event featured 10 hours of live music and raised $10,000 for Gilda’s Club of North Texas. That amount was matched by the T. Boone Pickens foundation of Dallas. The event’s entertainment featured concerts by Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef, The Bad Monkey’s plus Dennis Davis & The Barefoot Band. A songwriter showcase included sets by Buzz Cason, Tommy Alverson, Don Burke, Kelly McGuire, Troy Allan, Scotty Lee Shuffield, and Lone Palm Paul.
A compilation CD Angels in Tropical Shirts – The Album was released in conjunction with the event. It featured songs from all of the days live performers, plus cuts by Larry Joe Taylor, Latitude, James “Sunny Jim” White, Bob Karwin, John Reno, John Frinzi, Brent Burns, Mark Mireles and Eric Stone. The CD can be purchased at www.angelsintropicalshrts.com.
AITS was formed in the fall of 2007 by a group of Parrot Head friends to honor and remember their friends and family who had been affected by a multitude of health problems, most especially cancer. The organization is run by an all volunteer staff, and nearly every expense associated with similar events are covered by donations, including the musician’s time and talents.
