Puppet on a string (RE-RELEASE)
i strung her along
read her a poem till she melted
& felt it, like i sung her a song
her heart hung in my palms
the L word's on the tip of her tongue
she can almost taste it
pulse racing like horse races
never imagined she'd meet someone so charming
so amazing
recognizing her armor had hardened
from years of tears from others who've scarred her
at 1st my words didn't phase her
yearning to be more than a daughter
daddy's little girl, mommy's little momma
wanting a man to give her the world, minus the drama
i saw what she needed, she pleeded
in silence, through defiance, she reasoned
he's like all the others, she don't need him
though upon leaving, she squeezed him
like don't go so easy, please stay
you replace my wheezing with breathing
deceivingly, knowing i am the same
i said okay, with every intention to skate
pulling her close, then keeping her at arm's length
knowing my ulterior motives'll, be out done by karma's
strength
i want her, but i don't want her to know what i think
repeating the cycle that's making her psycho
meaning i haven't grown up, i'm still playing games
& as she finally pulls away, i grab her waist, & pull
her closer
driving her insane, on this roller coaster
promising true love & devotion
when "word is bond," is what i should be sayin'
forgive me for my wrongs & for playing with your
emotions
