Bio
Angie and Geoff have been performing together for the past seven years at various festivals around Victoria, Australia. They met soon after Angie moved to Ballarat - Geoff's hometown - from Gippsland and have formed a unique musical partnership. Originally performing many of their favorite covers by artists such as Mary Black, Nancy Griffith, Joni Mitchell, etc - they have both been writing songs over the past few years and their performances now consist predominantly of their own distinctive compositions. One of Geoff's compositions was awarded the Ballad of the Year by the Australian Songwriters Association in 2007
Angie's beautiful and captivating voice has an immediate impact on audiences, as does her sensitive interpretation of every song that she sings. Geoff's unique fingerstyle acoustic guitar accompaniment provides the perfect background. Joined now by Dave Rogerson on pedal steels and guitar, Kev Zibell on upright bass and David Dahlenburg on drums their arrangements have taken on a new life with unique and compelling interplay between the instruments and voices. They have also branched out into new and exciting sounds including swing, rockabilly and country-tinged sounds in addition to their trademark ballads.
Performances at Maldon Folk Festival, Port Fairy Fringe Festival, Koroit Irish Festival and a number of other venues and events around Victoria have led to an enthusiastic following for their special blend of folk, country and sweet, sad songs.
Their current CD Sweet Sad Songs took us almost 12 months to complete and they are very proud of it. Their first CD release it includes 11 original songs and covers by some of their favorite writers. For those who have seen them perform, you will be pleased to know that Warrnambool producer Pete Bird has been able to capture the organic and intimate sound that they aim to create on stage. Angie’s singing has never sounded better than it does hear accompanied by Geoff’s acoustic guitar sounds. A number of local musicians have also contributed their talents to various tracks.
This independent CD is available directly from Angie & Geoff who would love to share their music with you.
Hey thanks for lovely email. You have a way with words – no doubt. Bet you get a good English score!!. Have fwd the form to work and will make it Priority 1 tomorrow and put it ahead of all other Government work and just to really show them post it in one of their pre-stamped envelopes so you in fact will owe Mr Brumby who I believe is a Bendigo local!! I will get a good nights sleep so I am in good “lay it on thick” form for this critical task!
Tell you what – seeing you are so nice saying all these things about my gig – I will send you the whole recording the guy gave me. Included Lynnelle’s awesome song and some nice other things including Anita’s pretty high harmonies on Box of Stars – she is amazingly versatile musician for her age I think and her ears seem older than the rest of her (if you know what I mean) Just remind me of your address and Mr Brumby will post you one!
