Angela's Interests
I love Star Trek's Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager. I visited the Start Trek Exhibition at Hyde Park two or three years ago. It was brilliant. It was like being on the set - Quark's bar was amazing. The crew at the exhibition found it very odd that I walked round on my own. They kept asking if I was with anyone ie husband or group. I don't think I look like a Trekkie - whatever a Trekkie's supposed to look like!!!!
I also love to read crime fiction / thrillers. My family hate it when I start reading a new book because they know that I'll ignore them until I've finished. Fortunately for them I'm a fast reader!!!!
I also love going to the movies. At the moment one of my favourite actors is Denzil Washington. De Ja Vu is the best movie I've seen in ages. My favourite actor and it's Sci-fi. What more could I want:)

I co-founded and run the Groove Academy in Hampton, London with my husband Mark Ramsay. Our daughters Chelsea and Kendall are also heavily involved in our work, so music is a huge part of our lives as a family.
I moved to South Africa with my mum, dad and sister in 1982. I started working for Scripture Union (SU) a youth work organization as their teens work coordinator. It was an amazing time. Apartheid was still up and running but we ran youth camps for young people from different races/backgrounds to come and meet up and spend time together, breaking down the barriers Apartheid had put up.
During this time I studied with Julia Mann, a well known South African Jazz Singer for a couple of years. I then studied with Norma Biagi, a South African opera singer, for a year, before moving on to study with Joyce Barker, a renowned South African Opera Singer who was the singing teacher at the Witwatersrand University.
After SU I began working for Youth for Christ (YfC). I joined a band they had as one of two lead vocalists and we toured all over South Africa, performing in schools, churches, exhibitions, outdoor events, etc. It was a challenging and exciting time for me.

Throughout my time in South Africa I was involved in music ministry with Northcliff Assemblies of God. A fantastic church I belonged to throughout the eighties and early nineties. That's where I met Mark (my husband) and we were both really involved in the music there. I had two or three television appearances on SABC Television because of my involvement with this church as it was a popular choice for TV producers because of the standard of its music.
In 1995 I returned to the UK with Mark, Chelsea and Kendall. For a while we didn't do much musically which was quite frustrating.... after a few bits and pieces here and there, we decided to make things happen, and started The Groove Academy. I really enjoy the fact that it takes the two areas of my life that I have enjoyed the most, youth work and music, and merges them. We've been running now for almost 4 and a half years and are enjoying seeing the young people in our group develop and grow, both musically and as community minded young adults who are using their gifts to help others. In terms of my own music, I am collaborating with Keith Buckman, singer/songwriter, who is also a tutor at Groove Academy. We have now finished our album 'Suburban Condition' and are in the process of doing the final master. I've always written poetry and over the years have dabbled with songwriting. It's amazing how having a project focuses your mind. I've written more songs in the last year than I have the rest of my life and I'm really enjoying it.
As a family, my husband Mark is about to start on his album, and the girls have been very busy writing and performing too. So it's all go at the moment. My brother-in-law Gareth, or RamsayGee as he's known to some, is also busy with his music and various exciting collaborations, etc. So we feel things are really happening at the moment for us as a family in terms of having the opportunity to be creative, after quite a long period of "being in the wilderness" as it were.
Long may it continue.

"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
