Most people can not put their finger on it, but the closest bids are Ani-esque, and "that chic from The Cranberries" (Dolores O'Riordan).
Angry Jenny began her musical debut in Buffalo, NY with a few hit songs, "If Only You Were a Woman," "Myself," "Silent Witness" and "Stepping Stone." Once a trained trumpeter (10 years), A.J. decided to hang up the horn for awhile and pursue singing and teaching herself how to play the acoustic guitar. It took her about 5 years to gain the courage to start singing and introducing her fresh, witty, and original material - not to mention her double/triple tonguing singing style to the public. You would usually find her playing at her favorite downtown bars. She has also made musical contributions to local dance productions. Her lyrics and music, although very literal and not fully mature, are always a crowd pleaser and provoker. A.J. has a small and quiet looking demeanor about her, but once she gets warmed up, she's anything but small and timid. She writes and sings from the heart, and is not too proud to admit that it could take her 4 years or so to complete a song because she actually has to experience what she wants to write about.
She explains, "That was one of the things that really bothered me about pop music. I love it don't get me wrong, in fact, for awhile I wanted to be just like Mariah Carey, but as I was listening to most teen bopsters... I couldn't help but feel annoyed and think, 'what the hell do you know about being in love and shit?' I still have songs that I wrote when I was 13 about asking for one more shot in a relationship, when I didn't even experience one! It was ridiculous and soon my attention began to shift from one musical genre to the next. Folk-rock. There were so many issues in this world that I was ignorant to and I felt like listening to this type of music was extremely educational. Hell, I still have that problem when I'm writing now, I keep going back and forth between social injustices, apathy, and whatever emotion I'm going through at the time. I want to focus on one solid issue, but my mind won't let me, because its all connected."
Is Angry Jenny always angry? Her usual reply would be that of her favorite folksinger Ani Difranco, "I care enough that I'm mad, that half the world don't even know what they could have had" (lyrics from "Out of Range") That is, until she came out with her own song, "Why So Angry?"
She states, "That song was pretty difficult to write. I know I pretty much say that about most of my songs but that was supposed to be the ultimate 'me' song. An answer for all the 'you don't look so angry, why are you so angry?' It was meant to explain who I was and what I want to achieve, and instead it turned out not really explaining much but my self conflicts. And you know what? i was okay with that, because it's real."
Angry Jenny has since moved to N.Y.C. to pursue other passions of hers. She will be announcing future shows soon.

Haha! I just saw that you listed yourself as "lead vocals, guitar, trumpet". Which is appropriate because you bust out the trumpet at every performance I've seen! ;-) Double tonguing doesn't count. You've gotta be holding a trumpet to list it up there! :-p
