ANGST:theory stands for many things to its members. Even though the creativity and the boundaries of the band have changed in many minor ways since its formation in September 2005, the main principle has remained the same. This principle is the simple dream of being heard, and giving some kick ass performances along the way. Well, its as the famous saying goes, "It's better to burn out than fade away."
However, this band is far from burning out or fading away. In its rather short existence, they have written more A-material than any of the four members have written in any single project or band in their young musical careers.
The Dream Manifesto E.P., released in December 2005, was in more ways than one a milestone for the band members, and also managed to give the start that the band needed to establish themselves on to their local scene.
On this E.P, the band tested out different styles and new ideas which definitely were a kind of blueprint for how the band would sound and produce music later on.
Also, this demo produced the song Stay Away, which has become, in a way, an anthem for the band.
So now were in to 2006 and ANGST:theory is looking even stronger as a band.
In January they faced the fears and pressure of their first performance, which was at the Quarantine gig in Palmers green in aid of Chase Farm hospital. Luckily, everything that night was successful, and the band managed to coin the title of the first opening act to start a pit at St. Johns ever, the title of which they are very proud:-D.
After their first gig, ANGST:theory began writing again and from late February to May was the time in which the bands second E.P. was produced along with the B Side track Martyr.
The writing process for this demo was without a doubt a step up from The Dream Manifesto E.P., and also in the end, produced tracks which were also greatly a step up in terms of progression from The Dream Manifesto E.P.
This E.P., which was named The Rise to Power E.P., was released in June 2006, after recording the E.P. with recording - help from Mark and Terrence from local band 9 Blind.
This brings us up to the present day, and the future is looking bright for this North London band. So, make sure you watch out for these guys! See them live and pick up a copy of The Rise to Power E.P., because they are determined not to disappoint!
