Angúnguak' (Angu) Motzfeldt was born in Qaqortoq, Greenland in 1976. He moved to Nuuk in 1996 where he was soon drafted as a guitarist into the band Century Schoolbook. Their album, with all songs written in English, was the first of its kind to be produced in Greenland. Aside from his involvement with the band, Angu also wrote songs for other artists and collaborated on several projects and films.
In 2003, Angu secretly recorded three songs with producer Mik Christensen, for a label in Denmark. The head of Atlantic Music, Ejvind Elsner, heard the songs and signed him on the spot.
Later that year, Angu recorded his first album at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen with producer Troels Alsted. The album was released in Denmark in 2005 through Copenhagen Records and the single 'Red Lights' hit the MTV Up North chart several weeks in a row, becoming the first number one song from a Greenlandic artist.
A second studio album, 'Burning Blue Skies', was recorded during 2007 at Atlantic Studios in Copenhagen with producer Mik Christensen. It was released in Greenland in December of 2007 through Atlantic Music and in Denmark in May of 2009 through Mermaid Records.
