Sounds Like
Angus Young meets Genghis Khan in a backalley fight.
Big guitars, big amps and big balls. ANGUS KHAN play face-melting hard rock with dashes of punk, heavy metal and '70s glitter. The Los Angeles five-piece is a west coast supergroup of sorts, featuring members of seminal HOLLYWOOD rawk bands THE STREETWALKIN' CHEETAHS, B MOVIE RATS, ADZ and JESTERS OF DESTINY. They offer a rip-roarin’, high energy live show, complete with extravagant lights, smoke, bells and whistles ala Mötley Crüe (sans pyro) and KISS (sans makeup). Because of the inherent diversity and radness of their music, ANGUS KHAN can gig with everyone from the most punishing of metal bands, to the garagiest rock sensations and the punkest of the punk.
But who is ANGUS KHAN? And why should you care?
In order to fully realize the origin of the group, one must travel through time, back to a different era in music and society, all way back to the year 2002, when the world was dealt a mighty blow when two magnum rock outfits, THE STREETWALKIN’ CHEETAHS and the B MOVIE RATS, disbanded, leaving a great void in the music scene. Cheetah Squadron Leader FRANK MEYER (he of the six-stringed pulse cannon) and King of the Rats DEREK CHRISTENSEN (he of the wolf howl) vowed then and there to form a band so mighty, so outrageous, and so painfully loud that it would make Judas Priest look like a bunch of sissys.
And so it was written, and so it was done…
Cut to 2006. Derek and Frank had done absolutely nothing and utterly failed to get their dream band off the ground until sage warrior SCREAMING LORD “BRUCE” DUFF, with his years of experience and sterling rep as a ROCK GOD, stepped in and provided the inspiration, the spark, if you will. Wielding his mighty axe, they crossed swords and realized that two weapons were better than one in the fight to save the word from mediocrity. Now all they needed was a man of heavy drums and a criminal bass assassin to pull off the heist…when out of the shadows stepped a vision from the past.
Frank’s former comrade in the ROCK WARS OF 1995-2002 (the era when animal rules the planet and Rats and Cheetahs ran supreme) DINO “THE KNIFE” EVERETT came a-calling. He had a straight razor, a sack of stolen goods and a score to settle. This time, instead of leaving a trail of blood, booze and firearms, he joined the band. In a twist of irony right out of the storybooks, so too did another Rat from the past come a-scratchin’ in the form of ANDY “JUNGLE WARRIOR” BAKER, a drummer from the Amazon so rhythmically fierce they had to bolt his feet to cement blocks so he wouldn’t kick holes through the sidewalk when he strolled through the city.
The band formed in the summer of 2006, the year of our Lord Lemmy Kilmister. The songs cover all the bases of what THE PEOPLE needed to hear: robbery and homicide (“On The Run”), the afterlife (“Mr. Living Dead”), alien abduction (“Silver and Green”), female empowerment (“Big Balls”), male empowerment (“They Call Me Motherfucker”), pop culture (“Scene Bitch”), loneliness in world gone awry (“Exile On Mean Street”) and fashion (“Hot Pants”). A brand new 4-song audio demonstration was recently recorded in blood and, rest assured, is making the rounds to all the record company weasels, snakes and cretins, each CD attached to a grenade and a bottle of cheap scotch.
And so it begins.
ANGUS KHAN will soon rule the world with rock and you too shall join the armada. With dignity, with passion, and with your ass kicked straight to Uranus, you too shall ride with ANGUS KHAN! Whooooa yeeeeah!
