Angus Mc Og is Antonio Tavoni, already guitar and voice of the band active in Italy between 2004 and 2008. In 2005 Antonio attends an experimental course organised by Modena's Musical Centre and held by two prominent Italian musicians, Paolo Benvegnù and Alberto Cottica. The course is called "Fronte del Palco" ("Front of the stage") and together with other bands Angus Mc Og gives birth to a self-promotion collective called "Sonoramente".
In September 2006 Angus Mc Og start the "Stagioni" concept project (finished at the end of 2007) which consists in the self-production of four EPs, one for each season of the year. All the songs are recorded at the Angus Mc House, an empty country house (now full of instruments) surrounded by fruit trees and vines, in the countryside around Vignola. The first EP sees the band at their first DIY experience, alone both in front of the mixer and behind the microphones. The recording sessions are every three months, supported by the suggestions of Marco Bertoni (producer of Motel Connection and Fiamma Fumana) that from the second session starts to work on the mix together with the band. The EPs start to receive positive reviews on many magazines and websites, and Angus Mc Og have the chance to play as support for Paolo Benvegnù, Moltheni, Deasonika, Egle Sommacal and Bob Corn. At the end of 2008, two of the members leave Italy due to work and personal reason, and the Angus Mc Og project is put on hold. Antonio begins then to work on acoustic recordings made during the years, and starts to write new songs. The new material is reduced to the essential formula acoustic guitar-voice and the sound goes from Dylan, Tim Buckley, Neil Young, Nick Drake to Elvis Perkins, Nina Nastasia, Devendra Banhart, Iron and Wine.
As a solo project, Angus Mc Og starts to tour around Italy, and sees Antonio Tavoni back on track, as active as never before.
Angus Mc Og è Antonio Tavoni, già chitarra e voce dell'omonima band attiva tra il 2005 e il 2008. Antonio Tavoni ha frequentato il corso "Fronte del Palco" 2005/2006 organizzato dal Centro Musica di Modena e coordinato da Paolo Benvegnù e Alberto Cottica. Insieme ad altre band partecipanti gli Angus Mc og danno vita al collettivo di autopromozione Sonoramente. A settembre 2006 gli Angus iniziano il progetto Stagioni (concluso a fine 2007) che prevede l'autoproduzione di quattro ep, uno per ogni stagione dell'anno. Tutto il materiale viene registrato in casa dal gruppo alla prima esperienza in solitaria dietro a microfoni e computer. Le session di registrazione si alternano con cadenza trimestrale, supportate dai consigli di Marco Bertoni (già produttore di Motel Connection e Fiamma Fumana) che man mano si occupa del missaggio dei brani insieme al gruppo. Gli ep che iniziano a circolare ottengono buone recensioni su alcune riviste e siti (In Sound, Losing Today, Beautiful Freaks, Beat Magazine, Musicplus, Friction). Il Gruppo ha avuto occasione di aprire concerti per Paolo Benvegnù, Moltheni, Deasonika, Egle Sommacal, Bob Corn. La band si scioglie nell'estate 2008 a causa di motivi lavorativi e personali che portano due membri a trasferirsi all'estero. Antonio inizia a rimettere mano ad alcune registrazioni acustiche accumulate nel tempo e comincia a scrivere nuovi brani. Il nuovo materiale è ridotto alla formula essenziale chitarra acustica e voce modelli di riferimento vanno da Dylan, Tim Buckley, Neil Young, Nick Drake a Elvis Perkins, Nina Nastasia, Devendra Banhart, Iron and Wine.
