  • Movies

I like a lot of movies but not just stop motion. - All of Ray Harryhausens films - Nightmare Before Christmas "Tim Burton" - Monsters Inc "Pixar" - Aliens "James Cameron" - Braveheart "Mel Gibson" - Robin Hood "Disney cel animated" - And any movie that has to do with zombies!
  • Television

I don't watch a lot of TV, there are just too many ad's nowadays to sit through. I stick to YouTube and video sharing sites because I really think that those are the places you will find the best films. On Hulu I like to watch the Legend of the Seeker show that Sam Raimi created. Is that technically television?
  • Books

I'll read any art related or animation related books. Mark Williams' Animation Survival kit is a must! Also classics like Treasure Island and adventure/exploration books.

About me:

Sharing Stop Motion with the World

Hey I'm Marc, one of my hobbies is sculpting and animating puppets for clay and stop motion animation. You can watch some of my stuff in this video:

When I first got interested in stop motion, it was from seeing lots of late 1980's animated TV commercials. The California Raisins were HUGE during that time. I was around 15 and all I knew was that I had a big curiosity about how these commercials were made.

I'm forever greatful for meeting and working with some of the best stop motion animators early in my life. Not to mention landing several jobs with John Lemmon Films, and Webster Colcord. One of the artists at the same studio Mike worked in - Will Vinton Studios. This is how I came to teach others the rare art.

Since that time I created ..http://www.animateclay.com.., a resource for others to learn clay and stop motion. I've put all I know and have learned into the site from Mike McKinney, John Ashlee, Webster Colcord, Mike Rosinski, Tom Smith and others that I've met or worked with. I realized sharing this information could make others just as happy as I was.

Who I'd like to meet:

I like meeting others who want to learn about creating realistic puppets out of raw materials, building worlds and tell stories using stop motion and clay animation. I like helping new animators and helping others make their own stop motion films.

I'm also interested in meeting people who want to share their own film making experiences by adding content to the web sites. I think this is the best way to keep this art form alive, by letting everyone know that there are people still making these kinds of films!
