Anime, Manga, music, film, books... We have a strong interest in all things Japanese, and are huge film and music fans!
Music
Pretty much everything! We've got pretty eclectic tastes, favourites include: The Beatles, Queen, Iron Maiden, Metallica, KISS, Opeth, PJ Harvey, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Chas N Dave, Blur, Oasis, Feeder, Joe Hisaishi, Johnny Cash, Freedom Call, Gorillaz, Tori Amos, Yoko Kanno, Kenji Kawai, Portishead, random TV themes, Mad Capsule Markets, Rammstein, Therion, Electric Eel Shock, AC/DC, The Wurzels...
Movies
Where do we start? Obviously we are big fans of a lot of anime films, but our personal favourites are Laputa Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service. We're fans of everything from Studio Ghibli, plus the pre-Ghibli films of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. Other favourite animated films include Akira, Aladdin, The Lion King, Ghost in the Shell, Millennium Actress, Fantasia, Ultimate Teacher, The Black Cauldron and The End of Evangelion. On the live action side it's everything from the horror of Halloween through to the extreme cheese of Flash Gordon or Street Fighter!
Television
Again, a bit of everything. Loads of anime series, such as Elfen Lied, Trigun, Gilgamesh, Ranma 1/2, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, Haibane Renmei and Dragonball Z. Other TV faves include Doctor Who (new and old), Porridge, Red Dwarf, Curb Your Enthusiasm, House of Rock, Family Guy and The Simpsons.
Books
Lots of manga, faves include: Azumanga Daioh, Ranma 1/2, Cyborg 009, One Piece, Naruto, Maison Ikkoku, Inu-Yasha, Cromartie High School and Qwan. Non-manga authors we like include: George Orwell, Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling and Robert Rankin.
Hello! Animetion.co.uk is a UK based anime and manga fansite which was launched back in 2002 by two like-minded fans. Although we had been fans of anime and manga for a long time, lack of cash meant that we hadn't seen a great deal before 2000. We knew we didn't know much but after a while we got fed up of being patronised by hardcore fans and longer running websites, and Animetion was kind of our reaction to them. We only had one problem - we knew nothing about web design.
This where our good friend Ben at Bdesigned came in! He set up a basic site for us to work with and from this we created the site with absolutely no planning. Our original aim was to make an accessible site that was easy to understand and welcomed new fans. The site has been in a state of constant development since it was launched and now carries a huge number of reviews, but we try to stay true to this core value and keep things accessible for all.
We are fans first and foremost, and we want as many people as possible to experience anime and manga. The more popular it is here in the UK, the more will get released and the better that is for all of us!
Sounds good. I know I start training for my teaching position on the 6th and it will be ongoing for a few more months but hopefully we can work something out. the extra coin i make from taking those paid surveys online helps out alot tho; you should really do them too; i mean, hey, the extra money comes in handy, right? i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:

I prolly won't have anything going on that weekend so if nothing else, maybe I can get back to town for a few days then. If I can work it out, you'll have to meet 'em too. Talk to ya later buddy. Keep me updated!

How was yours? know what sucks? that IM supposed to be the one that knows about "web-stuff" and your profile is better than mine? Maybe I should just let you take care of mine like mom does Dan's...ohh, that reminds me, speaking of mom; i finally got her to start taking those surveys online like i'm doing, cuz i know the extra money sure comes in handy. you should really try em. i mean, if i got mom to try it, psh, i can get anybody to, heh..i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:

Just a quick update to let you know that the Shrotaku site has once again changed. The address is still the same as usual (http://www. shrotaku. co. uk) only now it's a Wiki based site.
This means that you can edit pages, add reviews, and all the other fun stuff that you couldn't before.
The forum's also changed over and is now also part of this site.
I'm still in Japan at the mo, but the other committee members are still lurking around so any updates on meets and whatnot will probably come from them through the new site.
