ANIMUS MORTIS's core was formulated in the early days of 2004 by N.Onfray's sickened mind. With the first couple of songs already composed, N. Onfray began to look for suitable darkened souls in order to give birth to the bands first demo (Desolated Landscapes). The perfect vocalist was found in Sidragath, whose frozen vocals infuse N. Onfray's misanthropic anthems with the requisite air of menace. ANIMUS MORTIS recorded "Desolated Landscapes" as a duo from October to December 2004. Shortly before the end of those sessions, Ophiel joined the ranks as drummer. Desolated Landscapes was maliciously spread through a selected amount of labels in the form of a homemade CDr.
In 2005, the band started performing live in Chile, generating an amazing reaction from ravenous crowds. In June of the same year, two new songs were recorded for the "Nameless Grave" 3 Way Split CD (featuring two other Chilean hordes). Meanwhile, French label Debemur Morti Productions, upon hearing the "Desolated Landscapes" demo, tabled an offer which led to the official release of a CD proper. "Thresholds Of Insanity" was unleashed in October 2005, combining material from the demo with both tracks from the 3 Way Split. Though regarded as the real first "official" release from the band, "Thresholds... is essentially a kind of DEMO CD, cunningly crafted to present the band to a wider audience. Initial feedback from labels exposed to this CD has been amazing and has offered the band members renewed encouraging. A large number of promo copies are still being spread strategically through the revelant residents of the BM underground.
In September, Ophiel left the band, to be immedaitely replaced by Goebbels. Bauda also joined as bassist, completing the line-up as a four-piece. During 2006, ANIMUS MORTIS received more dark inspiration and began work on new material, at the end of that year, Goebbels was replaced by Horus (Wildesheer).
ANIMUS MORTIS recorded their debut LP in 2007, and it appeared once more under the Debemur Morti Productions this February, 2008.
