Anna Alàs i Jové (mezzo-soprano) was born in Terrassa (1980) Terrassa where she did her basic musical studies at the Centre d'Educació Musical and in the Municipal Conservatory of Terrassa. Her vocal education started with Alícia Prieto and has passed later for the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien (Julia Conwell) and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Enedina Lloris and Mireia Pintó), where she was graduated in year 2007. She received an Erasmus scholarship in order to study at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, taking part both in the Liedklasse and the Opernschule. The masterclasses of Jorge Sirena highlight in her formation, besides those of Bernarda Fink, Brigitte Fassbaender, Maria Venuti, Cornelius L. Reid, Emma Kirkby... She special devoted herself to the Lied formation with the duets Mateu/Poyato and Shirai/Höll, and the pianists W. Rieger and A. Branch. She received the 1st Prize in the Singing Competition J. Massià 2005 and has been doubly rewarded in the International Course of Wolfram Rieger Lied 2006 and 2007. Moreover has been granted by the Humboldt Stiftung and La Caixa-DAAD a scholarship.
Her soloist activity embraces oratorios of Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Pergolesi, Charpentier, Rheinberger, Saint-Saëns, Ireneu Segarra and Arvo Pärt. In the operatic field she has incarnated Siebel ("Faust"), Flora ("La Traviata"), L'Enfant ("L'Enfant et les sortilèges"), Armelinde ("Cendrillon"), Tebaldo ("Don Carlo"), Volpino ("Lo Speziale"), Ariel ("Prospero"), Clarisse ("L'amour des trois oranges"), Woman III ("Zápisník zmizelého"), Edelknabe ("Lohengrin") and Adelige Waise ("Der Rosenkavalier"), some of them as a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg's Operstudio (Germany). Her Lied partners have been Daniela de Marchi, Xoán Elías Castiñeira Varela, Maiko Endo, Gerard Pastor and Maite Agirre, with whom recently celebrated a tour of recitals through Andalusia. Likewise she has collaborated with the Jess Trio Wien in the frame of the XVI Schubertíada de Vilabertran. Her commitment with the contemporary composers brought her to participate in numerous premieres of all genres.
Among other, she performed in the Palau de la Música Catalana, L'Auditori (Barcelona), the Teatre Lliure, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Karlsruher Konzerthaus, the Glinka Hall from Sant Petersburg. She has collaborated with the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, Conjunt XXI, the Art Ensemble Barcelona, the Orquestra Terrassa 48!, the Nürnberger Philharmoniker, the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu... under the baton of Johannes Fritszch, Christoph Prick, Josep Pons, Phillip Pointner, Christoph Gedschold, Esteve Nabona, Manel Valdivieso and Diego M. Etxebarria, among other. She recorded for COM Radio, Catalunya Música, the Bayerische Rundfunk and the International Television of Portugal.
During the season 2008/09 she will sing as Prima Tromba ("Prova d'orchestra") at the Staatstheater Nürnberg and will give her debut as Rosina ("Der Barbier von Sevilla") at the Landestheater Detmold.
