Able and Game is a new stationery label from the Melbourne based brand Anna Laura and her partner Gareth. In the lead up to Mother's Day 2008 Anna and Gareth looked at the cards on offer in a big department store and realised there was nothing they would want to give their own mothers. They created a small range of hand drawn cards, selling them at the local Rose Street Artist Market in Melbourne.
The cards were poignant but without the mushiness and proved popular with people looking for something different. The decided to start the label Able and Game, launching a year after it all began, on Valentine’s Day 2009. The cards are designed and produced in Melbourne, Australia.
It's going to be a monster four band pile up on highway 666 as Vultures of Venus crash into the Birmingham on Thursday the 3rd of Dec. Their debut LP which is now available through I-Tunes has been receiving strong support and favorable reviews from local radio RRR, PBS and Syn Fm. It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can. Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying. And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!
It's getting towards the end of the year and i'm just wrapping things up with one last show in Geelong and a short tour through Tassie, with Ben Wells supporting!
It's been a great year so far, full of fantastic shows, great support slots with Marty Simpson (Australian Idol), Jon Stevens (Noiseworks), Daryl Braithwaite, Diesel, a couple of interstate tours and my debut EP release! It's been fun guys and girls, so let's see it off with a bang!
If you're in Victoria make sure you come down the Bended Elbow next Thursday the 26th of November to celebrate!! Or if you're in Tassie I'll see you there between the 29th of November and the 6th of December!
Either way I'd like to thank everyone for their endless support, 2009 has seen me reach new heights and has set the bar high for 2010!! But there are already some big plans in place...

Roll up roll up, Vultures of Venus are back in town you funky disco cats. And guess what? ... their self-titled debut LP is finally here! Ten tracks of unadulterated Glampunk Electro madness! It’s unleashed on Thursday 29th of October at Bar Open on Brunswick St. It’s Bowie on steroids; it’s Marquis de Sade and Andy Warhol screaming at the moon through a home-made vocoder. The Lollyshop is open for business ! It’s going to be a huge night filled with bubble machines, strobes, psychedelic video projections and cautionary tales to tell your grandchildren. It will also feature live performances from those vixens of burlesque “the Venus Man Traps”. Support on the night comes from psych-popsters Go-Go Sapien serving up synth-infected garage with lashings of ravenous big sexy guitars.
