Anna Buckley

Bio:

Born n raised in Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, Anna knew from a young age that music was in her blood. Through-out her schooling, Anna was always running off in search of something more creative from choir practice to orchestra rehearsals, from drama class to ADVANCED (!) recorder group. She finally officialised her passion when she graduated in 2003 with a bachelor of arts in Theatre Studies and Creative Music Technology.

But always wanting more, Anna enrolled at the West London based music school ‘Vocaltech’ and graduated in 2004. She stayed on in London for some time gathering experience in both music and lfe!

Then an opportunity arose in 2006 for Anna to move to Spain. Here she sang in the fabulously famous celebrity hot spot ‘The Edge’ cocktail and live music bar, pleasing audiences of all ages and nationalities. It was also here is Spain that Anna discovered the wonderful world of House music, and even became involved in the promotion of various nights in some of the best clubs on the Costa Del Sol.

Living in Spain was a great and rewarding experience but all good things must come to an end, and in the summer of 2007, Anna came to Italy in search of new opportunities and damn good food, and as luck would have it, she found both!
It was only a matter of months after moving to Italy that Anna met Danny Verde. They soon discovered their shared love of house music and realised this in "Pushin To The Top" – the “Danny Verde Ibiza 08 Remix” of his original collaboration with the Halmadaxx team. Anna’s vocals were sampled for the remix and in just a few weeks the song reached number 1 on a range of charts such as the Djdownload.com chart, Ministry Of Sound download chart, Matinèe Group dj's chart and was top 10 on the Beatport progressive house chart.

After the success of ‘Pushin’ Anna was introduced Phil Romano and on Saturday 11.04 Anna was the ‘Guest star singer’ at the PrePLAY Party held at Alpheus, Rome. Her first LIVE performance for ‘Play’ in front of over 2,000 people were she debuted the smash hit single “Danny Verde & Phil Romano feat. Anna Buckley - Express Yourself”. Since then, Anna has performed in clubs all over the world from Milan to Moscow.

So watch out world! As things can only get better for the new and sexy voice of the dance floor!

Influences:

‘I have so many musical influences, but I suppose one of the greatest would be Alanis Morrissette. When that album came out (Jagged Little Pill) I was like 13 years old and I think I listened to it on loop for about the next 2 years! I loved her sound so much, and her aggressive and real lyrics just spoke to me. I still listen to that album now and it always manages to make me feel good.
But I also have a great passion for 30’s and 40’s jazz and blues, Peggy Lee and Billy Holiday are 2 of my favourites, and also Nina Simone. I love their elegance, yet they were such strong and sexy women, I hope to learn something from that.’
