my name is anna-maria la spina (to which some friends decide to sing-a-long too). i've been in music since i was 8, as a singer and now i include the other fascinating side of, songwriting.
i was lucky to sing with the huge band "savage garden" in 2 world tours, which took us all over the globe. such amazing experiences during that 3 years and faithful fans who have supported my career to date, for which i'm grateful. i had a record deal with sony australia and after that, moved to london to experience european life and extend my musical flavours. australia is always home no matter where i am, but for now i am fortunate to have a brilliant group of artist and writers around me with whom i work on a regular basis.
i write/co-write songs for myself and others in various styles. i love the 'diva' material but find it just as much fun writing a rock/country/r&b type song. i've written with some great writers in london, america and sweden and am happy with some of the cuts coming through. one of my favourite things is arranging vocals. ummm, oh....my instrument is piano.
my family is used to the music side of things as my brother rosario la spina is a professional operatic tenor. he's sung with people like placido domingo and now sings all the lead tenor roles in famous operas around the world. i'm the proud sister!
though there are other things to accomplish in life...however....music is the driving force through all of it.

RECENTLY: just came off the Darren Hayes "Time Machine" tour for the UK and Australia. Had a week off, and then straight to Gothenburg for one of the best songwriting retreats EVER.....check the photos section...MADNESS! now busy writing for my 2 original projects, heading in a more classical/pop direction. that music is staying hidden for the time being. but am VERY happy with the developments!
