Anna Portalupi, rock bass player, is one "the" names when it comes to female bass players.
Born in '83, she shows her passion for music since her childhood. In '94 she starts as a classical guitar player, studying in Vercelli with Antonio Borrelli and at Novara's Conservatory with Prof. Mario Dell'Ara (Chitarra D' Oro). But her love for rock makes her move the first steps in some local bands as a guitar player and singer. Not so much time passes and she turns onto the electric bass and plays in T.N.T. supporting Nomadi in 2003.
In 2007 she takes some lessons with Gianni Cicogna (Kiko Laureiro, Paul Gilbert, Jennifer Batten, Maurizio Solieri, Cesareo).
In 2008 she enters italian all-female rock band Chelsea Hotel recording the album "A Proposito Di Donne", working at the famous italian studio Larione 10 in Florence. In 3 years Chelsea Hotel play all around the country supporting Stef Burns and playing in many major events like Viper's "Concert Against Violence On Women" in Florence. With Chelsea Hotel she shoots 2 music video's for "Luci" and Litfiba's cover of "Apapaia".
Since 2009 she works in the studio with Alessandro Del Vecchio (Ian Paice, Glenn Hughes, Carmine Appice, James LaBrie, Edge Of Forever, Moonstone Project) on many productions collaborating with italian musicans like Alessandro Mori (Glenn Hughes, Moonstone Project), Mario Percudani (Hungryheart), Andrea Maddalone (Zucchero, Claudio Baglioni, Jon Anderson) and PierPaolo Monti of Shining Line.
Alessandro introduces her to canadian rock band One Soul Thrust and Anna flies in Canada for their second album. One Soul Thrust shared members with Nickelback and had the mighty Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple on their debut album.
In 2010 she enters the band Skill In Veins and she plays in the video "Youth Times" supporting their debut album which is considered one of the best street rock albums ever come out of Italy.
In September 2010 she is featured at "2^ edizione della Festa della Musica al Club House E.Cellino", organized by Cagliari Soccer team president Massimo Cellino, playing with some of the biggest names in rock like STEVE LUKATHER and BOBBY KIMBALL of Toto and VINNIE APPICE of Dio and Black Sabbath.
In 2010 she starts her bass trainging with Nic Mazzucconi (Carmine Appice, Ian Paice, Bernie Marsden, Edge Of Forever, Moonstone Project) and gets her first endorsement with Frudua and Garbujo bass guitars.
In 2001 she plays on the debut album of Lionville, a band created by italian musician Stefano Lionetti, featuring BRUCE GAITSCH (Chicago, Richard Marx and Madonna), LARS SäFSUND (Work Of Art), TOMMY DENANDER (Toto, Richard Marx, Paul Stanley), ERIK MARTENSSON (Eclipse, W.E.T.) and SVEN LARSSON (Street Talk).
On October 23rd 2011 she will play at Firefest with amazing american rock singer MITCH MALLOY.
Actually Anna plays with Chelsea Hotel, Skill in Veins, Road Trip, Ligatribe, Guajo and One Soul Thrust.
