| About The Ark |
|
Celebrating our 44th year, The Ark is Ann Arbor, Michigan's nonprofit home for acoustic music. Considered one of the top music clubs in the world, The Ark is renowned for the quality and breadth of its programming. The Ark is an intimate 400-seat club presenting performers who fall into the wide-ranging genres of folk and roots music. With live music nearly 300 nights each year in one of the best listening rooms anywhere, The Ark is a sure bet for a memorable evening of enriching entertainment, musical artistry, and personal warmth.

INFO ABOUT PERFORMING AT THE ARK
The Ark does not accept booking requests through MySpace.
If you are interested in performing at The Ark, please read on for information on how to submit materials.
Submitting Demos
Over the course of a year The Ark staff reviews on average 1,200 unsolicited demos. We listen to all the demos we receive and give the group or performer a rating. Time constraints make it impossible for us to contact performers after we review their demos or to return their CDs or tapes. Performers can contact us two months after submitting their materials to find out their ratings.
Keep in mind that of the performers whose demos we review, only a very small number are selected to appear at The Ark--perhaps ten each year. Hint: put your best stuff up front.
While we respect all forms of music, we focus primarily on acoustic genres. We request that you forgo submitting materials to The Ark if your music could best be described by the following terms: Cover Band, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Hip Hop, Rap, or Reggae.
Please do not e-mail us and ask us to link to your website to listen to your demo. We request that if you'd like to be considered, please abide by our process.

You can call us at (734) 761-1800 two months after you've sent your demo. Let the office staff know that you are calling for a rating and we will let you know what steps to take next.
Booking Agents
If you are a booking agent or a performer who has already received a rating (see above), Program Director Anya Siglin accepts booking calls before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Call (734) 761-1800, ext. 25.
Open Stage
Another way to appear at The Ark is to be part of our monthly Open Stage Night concerts. Tremendous local performers like Dick Siegel, Chris Buhalis, and Matt Watroba spent time honing their craft on Open Stage audiences. On Open Stage nights, doors open at 7:30 p.m.. Performers' names are chosen at random at 7:45 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m., for a total of 15 performers in all.
