| About Anna Stange |
|
Folksinger Anna Stange offers upbeat programs featuring traditional folk music to audiences all across the United States, from Seldovia, Alaska to Key West, Florida. From ballads to singalongs, Anna’s shows feature old favorites from the American folk tradition and newer songs she’s written and some gathered along her travels. Anna Stange presents songs for the whole family with a focus on fun. Accompanying herself on guitar and banjo, mountain dulcimer and simple folk instruments, Anna’s easy going and welcoming style appeals to audiences of all ages. Anna’s first album, “A FAMILY ALBUM”, which includes songs such as Old Ground Hog, Jenny Jenkins, Old Joe Clark and Goodnight Irene, is aired on radio stations from Alaska to Florida and many points in between.
Recognized for her outstanding children's programs, Anna Stange is a member of the Children's Music Network and provides workshops to teach teachers and parents how to provide successful children's music education. She has a degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Integrating Music into the Curriculum.
Anna's children's programs are popular with kids and their parents and she performs at festivals and concerts for young people across the country. Anna has released two recordings of her popular children’s program, “MISS ANNA’S MUSIC CLASS”. Using materials she's learned along her travels abroad (Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean), along the Appalachian Trail and across the United States, Anna offers multicultural programs for children to encourage an appreciation for the cultural roots of music. Anna often invites children to participate on-stage and shares her extensive collection of instruments from various parts of the world.
Anna teaches music lessons and classes for adults and children at World Folk Music Company in Chicago. The Michigan native currently resides in Blue Island, IL. She travels extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad, and uses songs, stories and artifacts acquired on her trips to bring her musical programs alive. Anna has performed at numerous festivals, coffeehouses, community events, libraries, and schools as well as senior citizen residences and activity centers across the Unites States.
Anna is committed to building a better world through music. She has performed at events for the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), the Greens (GPUSA), the World Social Forum in Caracas, Venezuela, and at many Chicago area peace & justice and earth-centered events.
