Ann Chaplin is a singer/songwriter from Deep River, Ontario. She easily captivates her audiences with her melodious, touching songs and striking voice. A truly unique and talented artist, Ann is wasting no time bringing folk back into the mainstream.
Ann performed her first song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow onstage when she was 5 years old, and was composing little songs on the piano since she was old enough to reach the keys. Her family fondly remembers her first talent show in which she played two recorders at the same time, and harmonized with them. She immediately fell in love with guitar when a family friend showed her a few chords, and has been writing her songs with it ever since. She has enjoyed being in several bands, playing everything from the tin whistle and keyboards to lead guitar, as well as a viola player in the Deep River Symphony Orchestra. Although she was always very active in sports and other clubs, she realized music was her first love and rejected her scholarship to the University of Waterloo to pursue music.
After some digging Ann found a brand new program at Seneca College designed to help indie artists learn studio engineering and manage their careers. She was accepted along with 20 other musicians and made the move to Toronto. Playing shows and learning how to survive in the industry helped her feel more comfortable with her decision. Now graduated, she is prepared and driven to make her mark in the music industry.
Ann is very excited to be immersing herself in music, and is looking forward to making a great record. She is a breath of fresh air in an industry where women are viewed moreso for their image than their music, and she is bound to be a focal point in the music scene for many years to come.
Hi there Ann Chaplin first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
