Dave Barker (born David Crooks, 1948, Franklyn Town, Kingston, Jamaica) is a reggae and rocksteady singer who has released a string of solo albums along with recordings as a member of The Techniques and as half of the duo Dave and Ansell Collins. Dave Barker and the fantastic the ska outfit Intensified will play live at Coast to Coast to celebrate it's 10 Year anniversary. Dave Barker had hit singles with "Shocks of a Mighty" and "Spinning Wheel" (with melanie Jonas), followed in 1970 by his debut album Prisoner of Love. March 1971 brought international fame as part of a duo with Ansell Collins. "Double Barrel" was a number 1 hit in the United Kingdom, and was also the first recording on which drummer Sly Dunbar played."Double Barrel" was followed in June of the same year with a number 7 UK hit in the form of "Monkey Spanner".
INTENSIFIED are guaranteed to get people dancing and raise the spirits of all around them. When they last played at Coast to Coast they absolutely rocked the place! There is only one word to describe their performance that night.....magnificent! Playing authentic 60s style ska, rocksteady and reggae, the band's goodtime feel, obvious love of this music and confidence in its wide appeal has led to near legendary status. The quality of their songs and joy in playing them live has gained the band a large following and a reputation as one of the world's finest of this genre. Three studio albums, an early compilation album and a live album, plus several 7" singles have received much critical acclaim in the music press, fanzine world, on the web and on radio stations across the globe. This in turn has meant a steady flow of gigging throughout Europe, with the band now a firm headline act. The band remains standing defiant against a sea of pop, punk and other modern interpretations of original Jamaican sounds, not against progress or to put up musical limitations, but to continue sharing the pure, untampered and uplifting styles with the world. The sheer energy and irresistible dance beat within the original ska and reggae forms are eternal and INTENSIFIED prove that it does not have to be turbo charged to have the whole crowd dancing, singing and smiling all night ... INTENSIFIED will be on stage at 11pm. So get there early! Don't miss this for anything! Coast to Coast started as a monthly night, then it was on every other week and now it's EVERY SATURDAY, entering it's 10th year, due to your good support. It started in Marble Arch in 1999 and then moved to 'On the Rocks' in Shoreditch, where it has been running as a night for over 7 years now. DJ Cello's Coast to Coast is one of the best and most popular club nights in the underground music scene, making headline news in several magazines and newspapers in London and abroad.
So remember, London's famous 60's ska, soul, funk, reggae and boogaloo spectacular, DJ Cello's Coast to Coast is on every Saturday @ On the Rocks, for the biggest and baddest American/ Jamaican getdown in town.
As always the music policy will be Only The Best Vinyl from the 60's and 70's, from Black America to Jamaica. Expect a massive crowd and a fantastic atmosphere and it's FREE before 11pm!

The Dualers are making a big push this year to get to the next level. Not only are they releasing their long-awaited album, The Cooking Pot, but they are playing a one-off brand new show with their 8-peice band at the mighty indigO2 at the O2 Arena, London.
