Born and raised in downtown Toronto, Anne Louise took flight from the urban landscape and landed on the marge of Lake Laberge in Canada's Yukon, where the brief but brightly lit summers and long dark winters feed her already vivid imagination. She emerged from the Yukon’s growing crop of songwriters with two solo CDs that showcase her critically acclaimed songwriting. Her music has been used in theatre and film, and she is a songwriter, vocalist and guitar player with the Done Gone Stringband as well as with the all-gal stringband Annie Lou (see below). Noted for her solid chops on rhythm guitar and soaring, powerful vocals, Anne Louise’s comfortable stage presence makes audiences feel right at home.
Anne Louise has toured nationally and internationally as a solo and ensemble performer. Through exploring old time music, she has added mandolin, fiddle, and banjo to her roster of instruments, and she composes on all of these as well as pursuing her craft of fine songwriting.
"Drawing on old time, traditional narrative country and deep bluesy roots music, Anne Louise's songwriting shines light on the shadowed moments that leave bruises on us all, detail by wrenching detail. In the next breath, she shares stories and images that give hope and, like the best music, provide us with a form of companionship and comfort. Her songs are poignant vignettes that reach beyond their northern roots, with hooks and gems to capture us all." Michael Hale, Yukon News

Anne Louise is delighted to be working with two projects out of Whitehorse - Annie Lou, an all-gal string band with fellow Yukoner Kim Barlow, and the Done Gone Stringband, an old timey band that includes two generations of the Hamilton family - producer and musician Bob and his children Sarah and Patrick. Both bands have released CD's this past summer.
To find out more about Annie Lou, check out www.myspace.com/annielouyukon and listen to some of the new tracks. Annie Lou’s lush vocal harmonies, beautifully crafted songs, and solid musical chops capture audiences when these northern women take the stage. Their songs reflect the solitude and grit of their northern home and draw a straight line to other times and places.
www.donegonestringband.com is the place to find out about all things Done Gone. This family band plays vintage sounding originals as well as a selection of the finest of traditional oldtime music. The infectious joy they feel in playing together is evident to audiences, who are swept up by their enthusiasm and welcoming stage presence. Compelling three and four part harmonies, haunting melodies, and foot stompin' instrumentals drive this band like a moonshine-powered rocket.

Anne Louise released two solo albums on the indie Caribou Records label: "Big Dream" (2004) and "Trouble" (2002), both to critical acclaim. Both produced by Juno award winner and triple nominee Bob Hamilton, Anne Louise is featured on guitar and vocals. Along with Hamilton, guest artists such as Calvin Vollrath, Mark Thibeault, Kim Beggs, and Kim Barlow give every song just the right touch of bass, dobro, fiddle, harmony, and twang.
