Annie Capps sings and plays guitar - Rod Capps plays guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo and bass
Influences
Aimee Mann, Patty Griffin, Jonatha Brooke, Ani DiFranco, Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, Dave Carter/Tracy Grammer, Brian Sutton and pretty much everything we listen to these days becomes an influence in some kind of way.
With her sweet, wry, perspective on things, Annie puts herself – and a host of other subjects – on a laboratory slide, peers in close, and makes discoveries that ring satisfyingly true. Drawing on three decades of wide ranging influences, Annie offers a little bit of something for everyone. Complimented always by the artful musicianship of her husband, Rod Capps, they create contemporary folk music that is as sophisticated as it is disarming. With instrumentation that includes acoustic guitars, tenor banjo, mandolin, and fiddle, they continue to defy classification, incorporating hints of country, a dusting of old time bluegrass and a pinch of jazz, offering thoughtful, exuberant songs that have at their core a warm, funky groove and a soulful glow.
Thanks man, I am planning to open up a studio this summer with my band. So hopefully I can record all my tracks for real one of these days. Have a good one!!
Always enjoy seeing you play and for the conversations had, when bumping into one another. Keep making the music that soothes (&sometimes shake) the soul. Hope to play some flute or sax with you folks sometime, especially since were somewhat in the same neighborhood.
Can't thank you enuf. Ever. It is impossible. Annie, I loved UNpacking my dishes, knowing it was your hands that nestled them into their newspaper travel-pods. Rod, your muscles are so talented. Not ONE thing broke in the move. (Except for the old limestone retaining wall next to the driveway of the Nashville house -- be sure to ask Al about that.)
Anyway, your room awaits. IT's so pretty here. We miss you. W and A
