I don't know where to draw the line between the music that has influenced my own and the music I just really really like, so here it is, all together now, in no particular order: joan baez, emmylou harris, bob dylan, joni mitchell, the band, THE ROLLING STONES, fiest (the only rockstar in the world), cat power, jill scott, erica badu, the roots, masson jennings, beck, nick drake, sun kill moon, souls of mischief, hyroglyphics, tribe called quest, de la soul, black rebel motorcycle club, the black keys, the white stripes, the pharcyde, the velvet underground, rusted root, ani difranco, patty griffin, uncle tupelo, son volt, wilco, toots and the maytals, fugies, greyboy all stars, mary chapin carpenter, elliot smith, the arcade fire, hem, dispatch, the heartless bastards, indigo girls, lifesavas, the mountain goats, mazzy star, morcheeba, scott h. biram, U2 (prior to and including achtung baby), bruce springsteen, ryan adams, and the others which I can't think of right now but will add as I remember them.
I was born in Santa Cruz, CA, lived for part or all of many summers and winters in the Sierras (Yosemite, Tahoe, Mammoth), got edjemicated at the University of Montana, Missoula, and have lived in PDX for the last 4 1/2 years. I taught myself how to play guitar and started writing songs when I was 12, started playing in the bars in Missoula when I was not quite old enough to be in them, and made my first and only EP on my mac in 2006/7. I am currently 2 weeks away from leaving for Spain and Italy for... some time, where I will be working on organic farms, learning language, learning to play mandolin (for, like, the 5th time) and writing some music just for me.
