Not everything comes out of Vegas sprinkled in glitz and glamour. Thriving beyond the neon lights, Annum Ford has crafted a dynamic alt-rock sound that leaves a lasting impression on their listeners. Posing the question, “What makes us human?” throughout their lyrics, Annum Ford has tactfully become the philosophic rock band for the introspective music advocate.
The band spent the better part of 2006 holed up in a makeshift home studio, writing and recording the material for their new full-length release, Of Analog. Painstakingly recorded and produced by the band members themselves, the album is a testament to the band's DIY work ethic. Even the album artwork is the result of a mixed-media collaboration among the band members.
The mature musical compositions make Of Analog stand out from other typical rock albums, seamlessly tying in influences from what sounds like a scholarly curriculum—prog, math and space rock—with a bit of folk and pop to get the formula for good rock songs with a bit of depth and intellect. Lyrically, the album explores man's struggle with his own nature—are we just the nuts and bolts that hold the machine together as its gears spiral out of control? Or can we hope to find enlightenment and redemption in the face of our own fallibility?
“Emotive, post-grunge guitar flourishes are tempered by unconventional song structures and rhythms, minor-key melodies and a non-histrionic vocal approach by singer/guitarist Nicolas Vincent, who commands an audience with impressive subtlety,” describes Mike Prevatt, A&E Editor of Las Vegas CityLife.
Formed in 2004 by life-long friends Nick Vincent (vocals/rhythm guitar), Nick Whalen (lead guitar), Jon Losey (bass) and Mike Reilly (drums), Annum Ford takes their name from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. In the past, they have released and toured in support of two EPs: Spinning the Wheels (2004) and Overboard (2005). Of Analog is the band's first full-length independent release.
