Shameia Gardin was born and raised in North Carolina and at 25 years old, she is a thriving woman of God. She grew up in church under the pastorate of her father, Dr. Osco E. Gardin, Jr. and started singing at the age of 2 1/2.
A musician in his own right, Dr. Gardin taught Shameia her very first song, "Jesus Loves Me". As her father continued to develop her gift, she began leading songs in the church's youth choir, singing songs like “The Battle is the Lords” with conviction. Shameia ventured out to develop her gift and performed with local groups in her teens.
Anointed at a young age Shameia has done work with other gospel music “giants”. She has been a background singer for: Lejuene Thompson (lead vocalist for Donald Lawrence & The Tri-City Singers),Maranda Curtis (Praise and Worship leader of New Life Worship Center, Pastor John P. Kee). Shameia has provided background for Lisa McClendon, Vashawn Mitchell, Melanie Daniels, Judith McAllister, Donald Lawrence, Stephen Hurd, and Natasha Cobbs.
Over the years, she has graced the stage with renowned artists such as Twinkie Clark, singing on her live in Charlotte recording; Pastor John Kee, Tonex, Dewayne Woods, Kim Burrell, Vickie Winans, who she performed with on stage in 2005 & 2007 respectively, in addition she has opened for Dewayne Woods and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
Shameia has had her share of personal struggles in childhood, adolescence, and college! However, through them all, God continues pulling her closer to Him. He is consistently breaking, molding, and shaping her. God has given this young woman an undeniable gift.
More importantly, God has anointed her. She will tell you that her level of anointing has cost some heartache and pain but her response is "It was all for God's glory!" Shameia has taken on the responsibility of being an example to a nation of people who are desperately seeking God. Nations are waiting to hear from "God's chosen and anointed!" This is her time! This is her season!
Her debut album, New Kingdom, Maintaining a Standard, is an album like none other and will be released nationally in 2009. This project compels listeners to seek God's face and turn from their wicked ways. It challenges all to raise a standard and maintain it. If you don't stand for Him and with Him you WILL fall for "EVERYTHING" BENEATH HIS WILL!
