Influences
Playing Risk, watching other bands, Heroes of Might and Magic III, those serious b-ball games, Jake’s cell phone oscillation, our friends, and everyone’s cool ideas.
Every band we’ve played with: Caspian, The Mint Chicks, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Constants, Debate, Clockcleaner, Tulsa, Arctic Sleep, Relative, The Netherfriends, The Please and Thank Yous, Why Intercept, Soft Targets, Shalloboi, Gold, The Prayers, Crush Kill Destroy, Knife Crazy, Hey Hey, Pal, The Chrome Robes, Fancie, My Teenage Stride, 28 Degrees Taurus, Paid Pilots, The Syllable Section, The Stilletto Formal, Damiera, Moros Eros, Balkans, LA Kings, Black Wyrm Seed, Agents of Change, and the few whose names we can’t quite remember or are too hard to spell.
Soon our record will be sold through Friend of Mine Distro in Japan. Also, we will be selling a cassette version over Mouthstatic Records. Check them both out and pick up some of their other releases, cause they are both doing it for the love of the game.
Also, we realized that something was missing from our MySpace that every half-functioning band has, an email. You can reach us to book or anything of that sort at anongoodnurse@yahoo.com; and since we will likely be begging you to book us, you now know that the email is legit; unless this MySpace isn’t legit.
We are really glad to have been able to play for you all and with you all (you know who you are, bands that we have played with), it has been one of the best experiences of our lives and hopefully we can continue on for a while. That is until Matt dies outside of a crackhouse like David Ruffin or Jake gets caught making hand signals under stalls on Ted Nugent’s ranch.
Thank you so much,
Anon, Good Nurse
P.S. We would die for you and this shit. And by we, we mean everyone except for Sobun.
Members of the band Anon, Good Nurse pride themselves on experimentation.
The post-rock instrumental band tries push the limits of musical innovation as well as redefine the age limits of success.
"We’re all 19 actually," guitarist Jacob Cole told RedEye. Anon, Good Nurse--the name is from a Shakespeare quote--began when the members were juniors in high school.
"I was in a previous band that was more mainstream, more alternative-type rock, but we still weren’t ’radio play,’" Cole said. "I still wanted to do something more experimental."
Cole met the other members of Anon, Good Nurse--guitarist Michael Carrig and bassist Anthony Sobun--through Matt Linas, his best friend and drummer for the group.
High school bands bug me. Unless they have a miracle musician in their ranks, bands working for their high school diplomas are almost always power chord barters. Whether it’s just the influence of “typical” high school pop-punk music, or that music is just easier and catchier to play—young bands are almost exclusively purveyors of post-punk, punk, pop-punk, pseudo-emo…whatever you want to call it. Not these guys. While they aren’t in high school anymore (nearly all of them now pursuing college degrees instead), Anon, Good Nurse put those dollar-a-bushel power chord kiddies to shame.
Hello...Thank you very much..I know the band comments can be pretty cheesy, but we had to say Hi to all our new friends...since you and others gave us a chance...and we care very much about people giving us their time...thanks again
thanks! I believe you are playing a show with Quincy, we are very good friends with them. They asked us to play that show, but unfortunately we are not able to because of some prior engagements. So, yes your stuff is sweet and the videos are epic. Perhaps we shall play a show together some other time.
i guess we are not playing tonight because the show is pretty full and we responded too late to emails. bummer. was pretty excited about the show. but the guy at reggies is going to put us on another show there sometime
hey guys, this is my little solo experimental/noise/electronic project. in real life i'm eric, matt will know me as we're cluster buddies at UIC, and the rest of you might remember when we hung out after your show at the beat kitchen. how's it going?
hello there- love the spacemen 3 cover- it is dead-on. we are aching to play a noisy electric show (we've been stuck doing acoustic shows for a spell) in mid-to-late december. we'd like to set one up ourselves and play with similar bands (i.e.- you guys) but not sure of a good venue- elastic maybe? any ideas? let me know. i would come to one of your upcoming shows, but i'm working a night job right now. we're doing a laid-back instore thing on the 3rd if you want to come that- it's free and in the afternoon if you wanted to discuss this possibility further.
sounds s1ck3n1n9. i have work 'til 7:30ish, but if i don't have any homework, i will make the short trip over there. let me know if you guys can play nov 2 or nov 16 here at uic...i got some dates reserved in the JST event center
