“ESSENTIAL BEDTIME STORIES FOR THE HEARTBROKEN…”
Tales. Epic Fantasies. Tragedies. Even the Great Holocaust. You name it, and anothersundayafternoon will write it, and then sing it. Believe in ever-afters? This is probably the sound you have been searching for.
All about the grandiose, the spectacular, and most definitely, always about the extravagant truth, anothersundayafternoon takes great pride in crafting the perfect story, giving it the perfect melody, and then some.
The band’s debut release “The Uncanny Tree of Fractured Hearts: featuring the Peculiar Case of Janet Leno and other short stories” is a piece of extremely meticulous work. Focusing on the age-old issue of love, the album is a 14-song anthology worth of sonic scaping and heartfelt aural bliss. Akin to an artist’s masterpiece, each song is utilised like a specific colour from a palette. The band tells stories of nostalgia, heartbreak, redemption, taking the listener on an emotional roller-coaster ride. The completed final grand canvas that is “The Uncanny Tree…” is most definitely worth every heart flutter, every soul search.
Comprising frontman Caleb Lye (vocals/guitars/keyboards), Elf Seah (bass guitar) and Xu Zhiwei (drums), anothersundayafternoon is heavily influenced by alternative rock bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Foo Fighters and Manic Street Preachers, although (whisper it softly) the band will admit they are unashamedly pop! Formed in March 2006 on the back of a complete chance-meeting between old friends, the trio has not looked back since.
Despite taking almost 2 years to complete, anothersundayafternoon is hopeful that the hype surrounding “The Uncanny Tree…” will build-up to possibly the greatest tale ever told.
“The Uncanny Tree…” bids all lost souls: “Come one, come all, sit and hear!”
