Standing on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi river I can just barely make out our target through the thick fog of the early morning. The Light of the windows looks as if every star in the sky has hitched a ride, to take their chances at the tables and slots that line the walls of what could possibly be the greatest boat my eyes have ever seen. This is truly a big hit; one that only the two of us could possibly pull off. My feet sink deeper into the mud as we prepare the wooden barge to silently set on our mission; in the dead of night I'm sure that no one could possibly see us coming out of the dense treeline surrounding the shores. Our goal seems mere feet from our grasps as the water splashes what seems like ice across my face; the tension in my stomach is turning me in knots. I cannot afford to possibly botch this up, for this is the biggest payday our meager eyes have and ever will see. So close now, that the turbine helps churn my thoughts as well as the water that propels this beast. Through the Darkness I catch a glimpse of the moon reflecting off the water through my accomplice's eyes. I cannot be sure, but something seems severely wrong, almost unhuman. These are the eyes of someone that is not to be trusted, because no matter how long you've known them, you really never have. I suddenly have the feeling of going up against something that is much greater and more awful than I could have ever imagined. Knowing what the human mind is capble of I realize; this could simply be the Precursor to a Tragic Ending. -Chris Prewitt-
