Liyarn Ngarn, in the Yawuru language of the West Kimberly region around Broome in Australia's far north-west, means "Coming Together of the Spirit". It epitomizes a thirty year long mission of Indigenous leader and Yawura man, Patrick Dodson, to bring about a lasting and true reconciliation between the original owners and the immigrants.

  • Books

In 2002, Walkley Award wining photojournalist Megan Lewis wen to tlive with the Martu people.

This is a stunning collection of photographs and oral stories capturing the beauty, humour, sadness and friendship of an Aboriginal tribe at odds with western culture.

This book provides an Introduction to Indigenous Australia.

An accessibly written and well-illustrated pocket-sized guide, it’s an invaluable introduction for everyone: adults who want to learn what they weren’t taught at school, migrants, tourists, institutions and departments, schools, and trainers.

Content includes Who Are We? (land, family, population, flags); Society and Culture (culture, arts, sport, learning two-ways, participation: education and employment; health, governance) and Resistance and Reconciliation (early resistance; missions, reserves and stations; activism and representation; reconciliation and celebration).

keep up the good work. it is amazing how little it known about the stolen children outside of australia.  most people i tell about it cannot believe it happened. if the rest of the world would have known about it maybe it could have been avoided.   awareness is the best sentinel!
    thanks for the add.

~your research is valuable. i think deeply about a society which openly discriminates based on who a person is and what really gets me is these people do not seem to stop..and think..that the person on the receiving end of jibes, and social exclusion, and "comments", is a person with feelings. in my life at present someone i love very much is copping this sickening discrimination and it is destroying his sense of happiness and his self confidence. so, now i think i understand a little more what aboriginal people are "forced" to put up with. we stand strong together, and fight for change for the rights of aLL people to live their lives in peace.. Love aLLie~
